The Yancey Humane Society Hound Hustle & Cougar Country 5K

The Yancey Humane Society is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation. We take great pride in caring for the homeless animals of Yancey County.
We are very excited to be teaming up with the Mountain Heritage Cross Country team for this 5K. Profits will benefit both YHS and the MHHS Cross Country team.
Our professionally timed 5K will be held on May 23rd starting at 10 a.m. at Mountain Heritage High School. This 5K will be a fun and competitive event, with emphasis on fun! The 5K course will consist of a combination of a scenic off road trail and paved roads. An alternate course will be selected if the weather does not allow for off road running. The 1 mile fun walk will take place on the off road scenic trail. signing up on or before May 8th will guarantee that you will receive a T-Shirt. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 5K runners 14 years or older and the top 3 5K runners 13 years or younger.
Race check-in and T-Shirt distribution will be at 8 a.m., two hours prior to the race. "Bubba's Good Eat's" will have a food truck on site after the race. This event is sure to be tons of fun! Come out and show your support for your local Humane Society and high school. Maybe you will find your next 4 legged family member in the process!
