Guns & Hoses 5K/8K

Sanctioned by USA Track & Field

Fit & Able invites you to be part of the Charity Distance Festival to support many area non-profits that serve our community. 

But in addition to the main event we are doing something special for the first responder community. We're calling it the Guns & Hoses 5K and 8K. To keep that age-old rivalry alive, runners can choose to join either Team Police or Team fire for the 5K and 8K races. Guns & Hoses isn't just for active personnel but for friends, family, and whoever else wants to run for the first responder community. 

So, pick your distance – 1 Mile, 5K, or 8K - then invite your friends and family to race with you! Don't forget! If you get 5 friends to join you using the referral link in your confirmation email you'll get an automatic $15 refund on your registration fee!

The Charity Distance Festival individual 5K/8K races and Guns & Hoses team 5K/8K races will be run together but will have separate awards. 

The Guns & Hoses 5K & 8K is part of the Charity Distance Festival.

7:30 AM - 8:15 PM - Packet Pick-up & Check In
8:00 AM - 1 Mile Start
8:30 AM - 5K & 8K Start
9:00 AM - Party
9:30 AM - Awards Ceremony

Information

Race Location: WakeMed Soccer Park located at 201 Soccer Park Dr., Cary, NC 27511, USA.

Course Information: The course is on WakeMed's cross country course with natural trails. Course conditions depend on the weather prior to the event. Charity Distance Festival Course Maps

Events: Everyone is welcome to participate!  All participants will have chip-timed results that will be posted online.  All Fit & Able Productions, Inc. events are inclusion events: anyone of any age, skill-level, or ability can participate in any race! Kids 2 & under may be pushed in a stroller by the parents in the 5K & 8K but must be registered and numbered.

Athletic Trainer: An athletic trainer will be available at a medical tent located near the finish line.

Water Stations: There will be a water station on the course and at the top of the hill near the finish line.  Water is also available at the registration and refreshment area.  Additional water stations are marked on the maps (see above).

Packet Pick-up: All participants must show a photo ID or be with a guardian with a photo ID in order to pick up their race packets and can only pick up their own race packet.

Volunteers: We need your help! If you're available please sign up to volunteer between 8:00 -11:00 AM.

Awards: Awards are provided by Omega Sports - Crossroads Plaza.

Race Souvenirs: Charity Distance Festival t-shirts are available for $20 until June 7th (while supplies last).

Online registration closes on June 17th at 9 PM.  Cash and checks are accepted at packet pick-up and race day.

5K:

• Until April 1st: $25
• Until June 17th: $30
• At Packet Pickup June 17th & on Race Day June 18th: $35

8K:

• Until April 1st: $35
• Until June 17th: $40
• At Packet Pickup June 17th & on Race Day June 18th: $45

1 Mile:

• Until April 1st: $15
• Until June 17th: $20
• At Packet Pickup June 17th & on Race Day June 18th: $25

Kids in Stroller (2 & Under): $5

NOTE: NO REFUNDS, TRANSFERS, or EXCHANGES.

The Guns & Hoses and all its participants are subject to these event policies. 

Fit & Able Productions is a nonprofit organization that has been supporting community and family fitness in Cary since 1997 through organizing creative events and training programs.  We also support many programs, such as swim safety lessons for at-risk children and adults, youth fitness programs, and health education run by our community partners including the Cary Family YMCA, Triangle Aquatic Center, and Town of Cary.  Proceeds from our events that aren't designated to support other organizations go to support the event and other Fit & Able nonprofit activities.
