Join us for a heartwarming event to kick off this holiday season at the Turkey Trot 5K and Giblet 1-Miler! Lace up your running shoes and gather with friends, family, and fellow community members for this inaugural run/walk which is dedicated to supporting Onslow Community Outreach's Christmas Cheer Program.
As you trot through the Jacksonville Commons loop, every step you take will make a difference in our community. The Christmas Cheer Program brings joy and hope to families in need during the holidays, ensuring that no child is left without a reason to celebrate. Whether you're a seasoned runner aiming for your personal best or walking alongside loved ones to spread warmth and cheer, your participation matters. Together, we can make a significant impact, turning every mile into a gesture of kindness and solidarity.

Can't join the turkey trot in person? No problem! Join us virtually and run, walk, or waddle your distance anytime, anyplace. How you cover the distance is up to you-- it's on the honor system with no proof of performance required. Race packets include a runner's bib and finisher medal and will be mailed by Nov. 10th. Virtual participants can complete the distance anytime between November 15 and Thanksgiving Day. Sign up today and be part of the fun from wherever you are!
RACE MEDAL
As a testament to your dedication and support of our community, each runner who completes the course will receive a stunning 3.5” die-cast masterpiece with a shiny brass finish that gleams with every step you take.

Awards
First place (Male and Female) 5K medals will be awarded in the following Age Groups: 9 & Under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24., 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+.
About Christmas Cheer
For more than half a century, the Onslow Christmas Cheer program has been a cornerstone of our community's spirit of generosity and charity during the holiday season. This vital initiative helps provide Christmas meals and gifts to families who might otherwise struggle to afford them, relying entirely on the goodwill of our community to make a special Christmas possible for as many families as we can.
All donations to Onslow Christmas Cheer go directly to families in need, ensuring your contribution makes a meaningful impact.

FAQ's
What if is bad weather? This is a rain or shine event. However, if weather conditions are deemed too dangerous to continue, the race will be cancelled. The race staff will make that call are soon as possible.
Can I register on the day of the race? Yes, IF spaces are available.
Are animals allowed on the course? Yes, Furry family members are welcome. Please note that all must must abide by the CIty Leash Law and be leashed at all times.
Are strollers permitted on the course? Strollers are permitted. Only registered runners with an official bib will receive finisher medal. Stollers will start prior to official start of the race.
Where does the revenues go? All proceeds generated will be used to support the Onslow Community Outreach Christmas Cheer program.
