Frequently Asked Questions

HOW CAN I REGISTER?

Registration for the 2024 event has closed and our race cap has been reached. You may add your name to the waitlist, but we can make no guarantees if you will be selected or not. You can read more information on our page here.

You can transfer your bib to someone else, if you determine you cannot make the event. You can find complete directions on our page here.

All bib transfers must be completed before 4:30 PM on race day.

CAN I PARTICIPATE WITHOUT REGISTERING AND GETTING A BIB?

We unfortunately cannot allow anyone on the course without a bib and a paid registration. We have a legal cap set by our US Track and Field certification that is based on how many people can safely be on our streets. By participating without paying, you are crowding our course and using resources that have been reserved for our runners and allocated based on the number of bibs we sold. Furthermore, your bib is your lifeline if a medical issue arises on the course where you are unable to communicate. It is dangerous to run a race without a bib, and it's also not fair to the people who have one.

WHEN AND WHERE IS THIS EVENT?

The 3.1 mile run starts promptly at 6:00 PM on Saturday, November 30 in downtown McAdenville, NC on Main Street. You MUST be parked in town prior to 5 PM. All roads will close at this time to set the course. All participants will be expected to be at the start line with their bibs visible prior to the 6:00 PM gun. The start line will be closed promptly at 6:15.

CAN I WALK THIS RACE?

We welcome walkers and runners of all speeds. We will have walkers and those with strollers line up down Park Drive. You will be funneled into the start line from there. Everyone is chip-timed, so your time doesn't start until you cross the start line. Participants must stay on the 3.1 marked route, moving forward at all times. A pace vehicle will be at the back of the runners to keep everyone on track and on pace. Roads will re-open approximately 90 minutes after the race starts. If you can't maintain the pace to finish in time, the pace vehicle will escort you to the finish line.

IS THERE A TIME LIMIT?

We can only close the roads to traffic for a limited amount of time. If you are too far behind to finish before the roads re-open, you will be given the opportunity to board a shuttle bus to make it to the finish line. Please stay on the official course the entire time. You are not free to roam into yards or down streets not on the official route.

CAN I WEAR SOMETHING FUN AND FESTIVE?

Please do! We even award the best costumes at our annual costume contest. Bring your most festive attire, and don’t be afraid to get creative. The contest will be held on the Plaza in front of the YMCA. Please be there at 5:15 PM if you would like to enter the contest. It will begin promptly at 5:30 PM.

CAN I PUSH A STROLLER OR RUN WITH MY PET?

Strollers are welcome, and children under 3 do not need to register or receive a bib. For those who decide to utilize a stroller, please be advised that you must line up on Park Drive. Look for signs telling you where to line up.

Animals are prohibited. IF YOU BRING AN ANIMAL ONTO THE COURSE, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE AND DISQUALIFIED FROM THIS AND FUTURE EVENTS.

WHEN CAN I PICK UP MY BIB AND SHIRT?

Please read the packet pick up section of this website for the schedule. All bibs must be picked up by 4:30 PM on race day.

CAN I BRING FRIENDS OR FAMILY WITH ME WHO ARE NOT PARTICIPATING?

We welcome you to bring your cheerleaders, but please carpool as much as possible as we have limited parking. There will be food, shopping and entertainment for everyone. Please ask them to stay out of the roads at all times, even if they do not see runners in the streets. Our fastest runners show up quickly, and for the safety of everyone we need all streets clear of spectators at all times. They must stay on the sidewalks.
