Description
Join us on Friday, October 13th for a howling good time as we kick off the 1st annual Howler 5K and 1 Miler. This event is in collaboration with the Burke Dog Events' annual Bark in the Park on Saturday, October 14th and proceeds from both events will be donated to support three local non-profits:

Come out to run, walk, jog, push a stroller, ride a scooter, or otherwise complete the course. Furry friends are welcome to participate alongside of their humans.
Race Details:
Start time for 5K & 1 Miler is 5:30 p.m.
Race day registration and packet pick-up is 4:00-5:00 p.m.
PACKET PICK UP: Thursday, October 12th, 6-7pm, Catawba Meadows Park - look for us at one of the primary shelters.
You may also pick up your race packets between 4-5pm on race day.
Cost is $25 for the 5K and $15 for the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk or 1 Mile Youth Competitive Run until October 6th when the price for all events will increase $5.
All participants will receive a race shirt. Overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female finishers in the 5K event will be recognized. Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers, male and female, in the following age groups for the 5K:
10 years old and under 11-19 years old
20-29 years old 30-39 years old
40-49 years old 50-59 years old
60-69 years old 70+ years old
Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers, male and female, in the following age groups for the 1 Mile Youth Competitive Run:
5 years old and under 6-10 years old 11-15 years old
You must be 15 years or younger to register for the 1 Mile Youth Competitive Run. If you are older than 15 years old, you may register for the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk (no age group prizes).
Race Course:
All three distances will begin at the Festival Area of the Catawba Meadows Park. Athletes will enter the Greenway and travel the paved course towards the Rocky Ford Access point (Lenoir side of the Greenway) turning around at the half way point for their chosen distance and then returning along the way they came, back to the Finish Arch at the Festival Area. There will be one water station on the 5K course.
