Run 5 Feed 5 is a 501c3 organization that hosts events throughout the year including a 5K walk/run in the Spring to fund programs that feed hungry children. Our mission started in 2014 with the hope of raising money and awareness for the dire childhood hunger problem in our communities. Right now, in North Carolina, one out of every four children is going hungry, and our goal is to fight that statistic!
Our efforts have expanded greatly over this past year. We continue to support the Backpack Pals program, who sends bags of food home every Friday for local food insecure children. In addition, Run 5 Feed 5 provides food delivery during the summer and extended breaks, as well as issuing school lunch grants for children who would otherwise go without. 2020 and the Coronavirus brought new challenges to the families we support, and our feeding program has adapted and expanded to provide weekly food boxes to almost 700 children in Randolph, Davidson, and Guilford Counties during the pandemic school closures.
100% of the proceeds from our fundraising go to organizations that provide for food insecure children. One of the programs we provide funding for is the Backpack Pals. Each Friday, the backpack program sends bags of food home with food insecure children, through local Elementary, Middle and High Schools. These feeding programs are funded primarily through donations. In an effort to raise money for these programs and others that provide food for hungry children, we are currently in the planning stages of our 9th Annual RUN 5 FEED 5, which will take place at Creekside Park in Archdale on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
How can you and others within your organization participate? Whether it be volunteering or walking/running in the event, there is a place for everyone. The 5K entry fee will be $30 per person and will include a custom t-shirt.
Your company can also help us by providing funds in the form of an event sponsorship or grant. You may also contribute by donating goods for our race or participant/runner “goody” bags or provide a specific service for our event. Sponsorship levels that are available are listed on the following page. Please note that sponsorships must be secured by April 15, 2022 to ensure placement on the 2022 t-shirts and other event promotional signage. PLEASE EMAIL email@example.com for more information!
