3rd Annual Pennies for Pigs 5K

Race Information:  Course runs from Macedonia United Methodist Church to the Randolph/Montgomery County Line and back.  Walkers and strollers welcome; be courteous of runners.  No pets, please.  Rain or shine - no make-up date.

Registration:  Individual registration required for each participant.  Those registered by 3/14/15 will receive a goodie bag containing a t-shirt and other items.  These bags may be picked up at Macedonia United Methodist Church the day before the race between 3 pm -6 pm and on race day, between 7:30 am - 8:45 am.

Awards:  Ceremony will be held after the race at approximately 10:30 am.  Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place female and male runners overall.  Additionally, medals will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place female and male runners in each age category as follows:  9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70+.  Ages 1 - 9 will receive participation medals (if not in the top 3).

Proceeds:  "Pennies for Pigs", is a mission project started six years ago by the youth of Macedonia United Methodist Church in the Abner Community.  All proceeds from the 3rd Annual Pennies for Pigs 5K will be divided between "Faith in Vision", a local non-profit based out of Seagrove, NC that sponsors needy children at Christmas in the three counties of Montgomery, Randolph and Moore and "Imagine No Malaria", a foreign mission of the North Carolina UMC, which hopes to raise $1 million to purchase mosquito nets for those living in Africa, affected by Malaria.
