South Mountain 5k, 10k and Fun Run

**Historically this race has been in Morganton, NC., but Catawba Meadows Greenway was heavily damaged during Hurricane Helene.  This year we will be in Valdese, NC at Valdese Lakeside Park.  Parking will be at Draughn High School.  Please allow 10-15 minutes to travel from the parking area to the race registration.  This trail is not paved on all sections, so pushing a stroller will be very difficult and is not advised.  The trail is also more narrow in sections than our typical trail, so we are asking that no pets run.  Thank you for continuing to support the camp and racing with us in a new place!**

Since the inception of South Mountain Baptist Camp in 1956 in the South Mountains of North Carolina, the goal was to provide an environment that fosters spiritual growth through disconnecting from the world so as to connect with God. Time in nature, being exposed to new skills, and making friends, enables children, teenagers, and adults to learn about Jesus Christ and the message of salvation.

South Mountain seeks to keep camp affordable for everyone and offsets the cost of camp by around $100 per camper since it's estimated that the cost of South Mountain’s summer camp is $195 per week and the true cost of camp is over $295 per week. Proceeds from each race goes directly to the camp’s operating budget. This race celebrates God’s work through South Mountain and the ability to experience a great, low-cost camp.
