Training for a 10K

I know... you may be thinking "I can't do a 10K/6.2 miles"; I disagree! You CAN, you may not want to, but you CAN. If you can do a 5K then you can do a 10K. Run the first 5K, then walk the last 5K! You'll get a medal, and prove to yourself that you CAN do 6.2. Don't think, just do it. You may be surprised by what your body can do when given the chance! THEN next year work towards the goal of running the entire 10K! You can do it - and yes, you can absolutely walk up the hills - that counts as "running".

Minimum pace requirement for 10K. A 15-minute/mile pace for the 10K will be enforced (you CAN walk a 15-minute mile!). If you need to go slower than a 15-min/mile pace please note that awards will be announced at 9:30am, and volunteers will be released after the last "official" runner. HOWEVER, you willstill get a medal and our finish line will be open until 10am! There is not a minimum pace for the 5K. Both the 10K and 5K will start at 8am.

As this race is USATF certified and sanctioned, bicycles, tricycles, skates, boards, or scooters are not allowed.

Medals

Everyone who finishes the 10K will receive a medal! If you completed at least 4 of the Miles Into Smiles events you will get a special thank you prize!

Costume Contest

It's winter, it's cold and just seems right that we encourage you to bundle up! So we will have a Snowman costume contest! Put on your warmest whites! The winner gets a free entry to the 10K next year!

And in memory of my very first fun run ever (done in College Station, Texas in 1993), we will also have Jingle Bells avaialble for all runners and walkers to attach to their shoes. If you come covered in Jingle Bells I may just offer you a prize too. So y'all get festive!

Race Day Food Drive

We will be doing a food drive for our beneficiary, the Tri Area Ministry Food Pantry. Please don't just clean out your pantry and bring all the things you don't want... old pickles and olives? Seriously? Just grab a jar of pasta sauce and a box of noodles next time you are in the store ? If you're not sure what to get, staple items like canned veggies, non-perishables like peanut butter, and soup are always appreciated.

Sponsor Openings

There are plenty of sponsor openings! Our sponsor kit contains all the details you need and you will find our sponsorship levels will work with just about any budget. In addition, new sponsors will be given 5 free entries to the 10K as a thank you to you and your employees!

Want to support this race? Let's talk! Email Rebecca@MilesIntoSmiles.com or call 214.564.6654 and we can work something out. Our goal is to cover the cost of the race with our sponsor support so we can send 100% of our registration fees to charity!

Benefiting

The Tri Area Ministry Food Pantry located in Wake Forest will be the beneficiary of the Run 4 You 6.2 with our race weekend food drive. It is our goal to make a substantial monetary donation to the Food Pantry. To do this we need more sponsors. Would you like to tap into the generous running community? I can help!
