Update: September 10, 2021: We are sad to announce that due to the recent flooding and landslides in the Bethel community, we are Canceling the 2021 Bethel Half/5K race. The safety of our runners, our volunteers, and Haywood County's emergency workers is more important than anything else.
Areas within our community are still getting back on thier feet. We did not want to put any additioanal burden on the EMS, PD, DOT and other Agencies that support the race each year.
Even though we will not being running this year - the mission of the Bethel Rural Community Organization has not changed and has a specific and immediate need for your support. The Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk run through the lovely Bethel Community south of Canton, NC - about a half hour outside of Asheville, NC. Held on the second Saturday in October - the 28th Annual Bethel Half & 5K is October 9, 2021. The fall colors on the trees, the rolling farmlands, the Pigeon River, and the cool weather make this a particularly inviting race event.
The 2021 Bethel Half & 5K is hosted by and in support of the Bethel Rural Community Organization
Among other wonderful programs - the BRCO supports a community food pantry, benevolence work (such as assistance with heating bills during cold winters), and rural, historic preservation work, and a college scholarship to a deserving Haywood County student.
We are the oldest half marathon in North Carolina and the third oldest half marathon in the Southeast. The Half Marathon is a USATF Certified Course [ID: NC12099PH]. Both courses are well marked with traffic control at key intersections. Aid Stations are located every 2-2.5 miles with Water/Gatorade only.
Rates & Dates:
5K Registration is $25 Race Day = $30
Half Marathon Registration is $40 Race Day = $45

7:00 - 8:15am On-site Registration and Packet Pick Up
8:30am Half Marathon START
8:35am: 5K START
Post-race festivities and award ceremony are held indoors in the school gym - including home-made potato soup, custom awards & prizes.

Do you want a FREE ENTRY? It's Simple - AFTER you’ve registered - a "Refer Your Friends!" pop up will appear - Post, Tweet, and/or email the message to everyone you know.
OR later - share your unique link found in your RunSignUp Confirmation E-mail = "Remember to invite your friends..."
You’ll be refunded $20 for every three(3) friends who register for the Half Marathon online using your unique link. Three friends sign up = $20. Six = $40.00.
You'll be refunded $10 for the first two (2) friends who register for the 5K. For friends 3-4-5 receive $5 each - until your registration becomes FREE! [Free is Good!!]
Funds will be refunded, within 3-4 business day, to the credit card used for the initial registration.
Note: The intial registration processing fee will not be refunded, you can not go below $0, refunds will not apply to Add-Ons, Purchases, or Donations.
