Weather Update

We're closely monitoring the weekend weather and rainstorm. Please note that road races take place rain or shine.

At this time, the Trooper Kevin Conner Memorial Run is on as scheduled, even in the rain. Our meteorologist is tracking the forecast hourly to ensure the safety of all participants and volunteers.

If the National Weather Service issues a severe weather warning or there is lightning in the area near race time, the event will be delayed or canceled for safety reasons.

Please check back here for updates, and we will also email participants if any changes occur.

THE RACE

Trooper Kevin Conner (B-551) lost his life during a traffic stop on October 17, 2018. Every October, nearly a thousand people in the community come together on his EOW for this annual 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk in memory of Trooper Kevin Conner’s life and his dedication to protecting the community. 

RACE SWAG

SHIRTS:  
Register by September 8, 2025, and attend packet pickup or the race, and you will get a race shirt in your size.

If you register after September 8th, you can choose from remaining sizes available during registration.

FINISHER MEDAL: 
All finishers will receive a medal at the finish line! 

THE COURSE

First Citizens Bank
422 S. Madison Street
Whiteville, NC 28472

The race will start and finish in front of First Citizens Bank on W Columbus St. with the course taking both 5K and 1 Mile participants through Downtown Whiteville. The 5K course is certified by USA Track & Field.

This race course is also stroller & wheelchair friendly!
However, dogs are not allowed on this course so please leave them at home or with a non-running spectator.

THE CAUSE

HOW YOUR REGISTRATION MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Proceeds from this event will go into a scholarship fund in memory of Trooper Kevin Conner. The scholarship will be available to students in Columbus and Bladen County.

If you cannot race or would like to make an additional contribution you are welcome to make a donation to the Trooper Kevin Conner Scholarship Fund.
