COURSE DESCRIPTION & INFO

Located at the North end of Franconia Notch State Park, the 6.7 mile course featuring 3,386 feet of elevation gain at Cannon Mountain is no easy feat. You’ll start at the Peabody Base Area immediately ascending the Peabody Slopes and running across the Front5 toward the Aerial Tramway. From there, you’ll tackle one of the toughest trails in the East, the Kinsman Ridge Trail. This section is steep, rocky, and secluded you will have nothing but yourself and the trees to push you through this 2-mile section with 2,081 feet of elevation gain before you summit Cannon Mountain. You will be greeted with spectacular views of the Franconia Ridge and cheering guest as you hit your highest point of 4,031 feet. You will then cross under the Cannonball Quad and begin a short descent down Upper Ravine Trail before making another short but steep ascent up The Saddle over to Mittersill. At the Summit of The Saddle you can see all of Cannon Mountain and the Franconia Ridge behind you, in front of you, Northern NH and VT with the Famed Willoughby Gap before descending into classic narrow New England ski trails. You will run under the Mittersill Double Chair down Skyline, across Ridge Run and down Dragons Drop. You will have on more small push of elevation gain up the lower section of Baron’s Run before your final decent on Coyote Crossing which will bring you back to the Peabody Base Area.

SAFETY LANGUAGE
The course is steep, rocky, grassy, wet and slippery. You will be pushing hard for the summit, putting yourself to your capacity, lungs, grit, and strength. Please note, we will have the course well marked, it is imperative, for your safety, you follow precise path of flagging. Please be mindful of other competitors, if you encounter an injured competitor please inform the nearest course Marshall, EMT or Rescue Services.  Course is well marked with orange flagging, if you suddenly find yourself on a path without immediate orange flags to indicate the route, please turn around, go back the way you came until you get back on trail with orange flags.

**Every competitor is subject to a strict cut-off time, at Cannon Mountain summit (top of Aerial Tram), of 2 hrs (competitor will take Tramway back down). Please note this is a placeholder, cutoff to be defined in May as race approaches. We typically see 2-20 people not make cutoff

**Course subject to be adjusted as necessary

**The race course is located in Franconia Notch State Park

We will provide Skratck hydration for all participants at two aid stations & finish line.

Cancellation / Refund Policy:  the race organizers reserve the ability to cancel the event due to unsafe weather, any variety of circumstances, etc. Race organizers will make the best decisions when it comes to protecting the safety of all runners. This means we reserve the right to adjust, cancel, reroute, or reschedule as we see fit.

Because the bulk of our costs come before the event even occurs we will not be able to extend refunds to those who wish to cancel their registration. We will assess things appropriately & fairly, to the best of our abilities. If the race is popular enough to create a waiting list, we will also treat your entry fairly with specifics TBD.

Race registration is non transferable & cannot be rolled over to subsequent races. We will always treat our community fairly but also ask that you be sympathetic about the realities of putting on a great event. Anyone running under a bib assigned to another athlete will be banned from future Cirque Series Races, we take this very seriously because it creates a safety issue.
