Running Heroes Memorial Run presented by the Beat Bob Boyd 5k

About the 2023 Running Heroes Memorial Run

For 13 years, Dr. Bob Boyd has hosted an informal 5k on the Sunday preceding Christmas "because there were usually no real races to run on this day". After Bob received a pacemaker, he challenged us to see who he could beat.  After the last finisher crossed the finish line, he'd distribute certificates to all those who beat him that said "I beat an old man with a pacemaker"....and to pose for a classic photo of Bob bowing to them. Those who couldn't beat Bob received certificates that said "I was beat by an old man with a pacemaker"...and to pose for the classic photo of Bob flexing his muscles. 

In 2020, 2021 and 2022, Bob decided that he would like to keep the memory of Joe and Betty La Bruno alive with the Joe and Betty Memorial 5k.  Now, in 2023 as more and more of our "Running Heroes" have passed on to that great race in heaven, Bob has decided to dedicate the race more broadly to all of our Running Heros as a memorial to them for their efforts in leading the way for the current and future generations. 

We dedicate this race to the memory of all of the CJRRC members who have lead the way and shared the spirit of running with us all. It is a way to insure all of our Running Heroes stay in our hearts and minds forever.  We are all better runners for having known them.

5k Walk/Run: Sunday, December 17, 2023

December 17, 2023 at 9am at Colonia High School, Colonia, NJ        [180 East Street, Colonia, NJ 07067]

Timing:

EVERYONE IS RESPONSIBLE TO RECORD YOUR OWN TIME. We will have a sheet available at the end of the race to record your time so it can be entered in the RunSignUp results.
