Description
Winding through the heart of the Pine Barrens in New Jersey, the Batona Trail stretches 52.7 miles from Lake Absegami to Ong's Hat. This route takes runners and hikers through expansive pine forests, crossing ponds, streams, and bogs along the way. Just be cautious when traveling at night—your chances increase of encountering the area's most legendary resident: the Jersey Devil.
Sign up for either the 52.7-Mile Virtual Run, which involves completing all miles on foot and submitting your results daily, or the Distance Challenge, which allows for multiple sport disciplines.
All participants completing 52.7 miles will receive a finishers' medallion with Jerry the Devil logo mailed to the address on file.

Rules & Guidelines
To successfully complete the 52.7 Mile Virtual Run, you must cover a total of 52.7 miles on foot within 31 days. Eligible activities include:
Running
Walking
Hiking
Treadmill (indoors or outdoors)
Submission Requirements:
All results must be submitted with proof of completion, which can be:
A link to a fitness tracking website (e.g., Strava, Garmin, Fitbit, etc.), or
A screenshot showing:
Total distance
Time
Pace
Make sure your submission clearly shows all required details. Only verifiable entries will be counted toward your total. This distance does NOT need to be completed in one run. You may add as many runs as needed to complete the entire 52.7 miles. All runs must be completed in the period from October 1st through October 31st.

Activity Conversion Chart
In The Distance Challenge, running is the baseline activity. Other sports and activities will be converted to running-equivalent miles using the following chart:
Activity Conversion Rates
Running – 1 mile = 1 mile
Cycling – 3 miles = 1 mile running
Swimming – 1 mile = 3 miles running
Strength Training / Cross Training – 1 hour = 4 miles running
Yoga – 1 hour = 3 miles running
Rowing / Paddling – 1 mile = 1 mile running
