In the spring of 2009, a small group of committed volunteers created the HRRA with the dream to bring a 5K back to Haworth, but wanted this race to be different from other “local” 5Ks. They wanted Haworth, their beautiful home, with its picturesque streets, small hometown feel, and vibrant community spirit, to be the star of this 3.1-mile journey. And in the process of showcasing this small enclave nestled in northern Bergen County, they wanted to give back to the very same community that enriches and protects the lives of its residents and the surrounding communities.
A decade later, the Haworth 5K is renowned for being one of the premier road races in Bergen County. From the moment a participant steps foot in Haworth on race day, they are greeted by high-energy volunteers who answer questions, register runners, cheer participants, distribute much-needed water, and award medals and trophies to exhilarated finishers and champions. Year after year, participants return for a morning of friendly competition, excitement and fun.
