Races start and finish at Wingfield Park in Downtown Ruidoso, 300 Center St.

Since 2014 the Grindstone Trail Runs has been an annual event Ruidoso, NM. The event is fully supported by the Village of Ruidoso, Lincoln County, and the US Forest Service. We would also like to thank all our local sponsors and volunteers over the past 9 years who have helped make this event possible.

Please make plans to come out for the 10th running that will include custom commemorative SWAG, cake, and a post-race party. atmosphere.

Proceeds from the Grindstone Trail Runs are donated back to the All-Season Adaptive Sports program, formerly Ski Apache Adaptive Sports. This is one of the oldest foundations in NM dating back to 1976. Over the past 9 years, our event has donated more than $50K and hopes to raise more this year.

XTERRA Trail Run World Championship

 

This year, the Ruidoso Grindstone Trail Run is excited to announce that it will be offering a select number of XTERRA PASS qualifications to race at the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship at Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine, USA on September 1, 2024. Our race will offer 10 registration opportunities, our top 5 Female and top 5 Male finishers to this invite-only event.   • Post-race showers will be available at the Ruidoso Athletic Club.
  • Bears R US will be out on race day morning carving a bear award and sharing discounts on store items for all race participants that come by the shop.
  • Photographers will be on hand so smile!
  • Lost Hiker will be offering a half-off pint to each of age participant at their MidTown location, 2536 Sudderth Drive after the race, just show your bib.
  • T-shirt size guaranteed to everyone registered by midnight on August 13th.

    Race shirts can be picked up race morning 

- Thursday, August 22:
           For participants in El Paso.  You will be able to pick up your BIB ONLY on Thursday at 
           Up and Running from 2 pm to 6 pm.

- Friday, August 23, 2024
3pm to 7pm: Packet pick up & in-person registration at MCM Elegante Lodge and Resort, 107 Sierra Blanca Drive.

  • RACE DAY PACKET PICK-UP
  • Wingfield Park 300 Center Street (across from the RAC under the pavilion): Packet pick-up only
  • Race briefing @ 6:45am.
    HALF MARATHON HEAVY RACE STARTS 7.00 AM Sharp.
    8.5 & 4 MILE RACES START AT 7:15 AM Sharp.
    KID'S RUN STARTS AT 7:30 AM Sharp.
    CHIP TIMING*.
    NO REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON.
    BIB NUMBERS/RACE ENTRIES ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE
  • For your safety & the safety of others: NO PETS ALLOWED, NO STROLLERS, NO E-BIKES ON THE TRAILS
  • 2 water/filling stations on the course for Half Marathon (filling stations available at Wingfield Park, MM5 & MM9).
    Please bring your own hydration container.

  • HALF MARATHON HEAVY ( 13.8 miles) start @ 7.00 am
    CUT OFF TIME: 3.30 Hours. If you cannot finish before 10.30 am on race day, we will not offer any support: NO timing; NO awards; NO EMT or Police; NO refreshments or food. A little longer than an official Half marathon but what’s a few extra yards between friends !!! You will get a smorgasbord of heart-pounding hills, and technical downhills to satisfy your trail runner desire.
    Walkers are discouraged for this distance, but 2 other distance options are available.
  • Start & finish at Wingfield Park.
  • Short sleeve gender-specific tech shirt. (Packet Pick-up and Race Day registrations are not guaranteed a T-Shirt.)
  • Famous Ruidoso carved bear awards to the TOP three overall winners
    (Male & Female)
  • Commemorative 10th-anniversary Finisher medal for all participants (Male & Female).
  • No water station on the course, carry your own - we’ll have filling stations at Wingfield Park.
  • 2 refill water station (no cups), junction between 8.5M & Half (MM9), Half (MM7).
  • Refreshments & fruits will be provided at the finish line.

    If you need a challenge you’ll face a nice variety of hills & slopes to improve your trail runner technique. Start & finish at Wingfield Park.
