Buchanan Running Club is hosting their first annual Buchanan Day 5K Race/Walk on September 16th starting at 10:30am; the same day as their annual “Buchanan Day”, which is a family fun village tradition. This celebratory portion of the event is scheduled to start at 12pm. Both the race and the Buchanan Day festivities will take place rain or shine. At this time, we would like to invite you to play a very special part in this wonderful tradition and celebration of our Village of Buchanan, its residents, and BRC’s ongoing initiative to promote outdoor fitness for a healthier community. We kindly ask you to register for our First Annual Buchanan Day 5K Race/Walk! Our Buchanan Day 5K Race/Walk (start time 10:30am) is a great opportunity to participate as a vendor at Buchanan Day (start time 12pm), which is the post-race portion of the event taking place at the Pavilion. There will be entertainment, games for the children, food, drinks, and more.
Event Information
A portion of proceeds go towards the Village of Buchanan Pavilion Community Playground.
After the race, participants are welcome to join the Buchanan Day festivities including food, drink, music, games, family fun, vendors, and more.
This is a great and relative flat course with no killer hills.

Early bib pick-up: September 15th, 2023 4pm-9pm Location: Fulgum's Bar & Grill located at 2151 Albany Post Rd, Montrose, NY 10548. In celebration of the big day, we will be having a "Bib + A Beer" special where every registered runner will receive a drink ticket for a discounted price on select beer(s).

FAQs:
Q: Is Buchanan Day 5K a race only or can I walk?
A: Registrants can race/run (awards for top places), walk, skip, hop, and 💃🕺shake your bum all the way to the finish line! We want everyone to get out there!
Q: Is the race only for 21+?
A: No, minors are welcome to register. Registration includes a shirt and bib.
Q: Does the run/walk start and finish at the Village Park Veteran's Pavilion in Buchanan, NY?
A: Yes! Exactly!
Q: Is there a post event race?
A: Heck, yes! Buchanan Day, of course! Residents and visitors can enjoy a fun filled village celebration as early as 11am right at the Pavilion.

Q: Are strollers allowed?
A: A registered participant is welcome to use a stroller for this event but it is not recommended due to uneven ground on the course.

A Little Backstory...
Course Map
Parking: 218 Westchester Ave, Buchanan, NY 10511
The course is as follows:
1. Start at the highway garage flagpole heading towards Verplanck.
2. Left turn on to Fourth St.
3.Left turn on to Center St.
4.Left turn on to First Street.
5. Right turn on to Westchester.
6. At the circle do NOT go around the circle!(same for the return)
7. Tate Avenue to Burke Ct. Proceed to the left all the way down to the cul de sac.
8. Burke Ct. Run on the right side. Stay right at the turnaround going around the cones9. Return to start/finish via Tate & Westchester Ave's
We will have a lead cyclist and people/law enforcement to direct at certain locations.
