Description

Welcome to the beautiful lakeside community of Cassadaga, NY.   Just off of I-90, one hour south of Buffalo, NY, and 1 hour north of Erie, PA. 

There will be race day registrations available.  50K will be $30 at the Community Room/Fire Hall.

FROZEN 50K

A NO FRILLS ultra-running event for those of you that just LOVE to run!  And, it's 100% a fundraiser event.  All proceeds will benefit the Chautauqua County Fire Police.

The Lower Lake in Cassadaga hosts a perfectly distanced 5K loop and this event will have you run or walk one to ten loops, depending on what you feel that day. 

 NO CUT-OFF TIMES 

Held in conjunction with the Cassadaga Winter Festival activities and produced by Wilson Endurance Sports.

Long-sleeved t-shirts and POM beanies are available through the store for an additional fee - through 1/14 only

Race day registration will be available for $30 per person.  Cash, check, or Venmo 

 

COURSE

The 3.1 mile loop around the lake will begin at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Mill Street,  next to the lake and adjacent to the Fire Hall/Community Room.

Left turn onto Dale Drive

Left turn onto Frisbee Road 

Left turn onto Maple Avenue

You are always running against traffic.  There will be directional signs at the turns.

 Stocked aid station with Hammer Nutrition products; Heed and Gels and water.

RUCK

What is a Ruck?
A ruck is short for rucksack (military slang for a backpack.) It can also mean the action of rucking or going on a ruck march. For example, you might say: “I rucked 10 miles yesterday with a 20lb weight in my backpack.”  

You can "ruck" with any amount of weight with a minimum amount of 20 pounds.  

Rucking Tips – The basics:

1. Grab a backpack

2. Load it up with at least 20 lbs of weight; can be bricks, dumbbells, plates, anything to get the 20 lbs.

3. Move - the distance and the pace is totally up to you.

Only rule - you have to keep the weight on for your entire distance.

We will award one prize each to the top M/F finisher of the full 50K RUCK category.

RACE DAY

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Saturday, February 3rd

       7:00am - Fire Hall doors open for check-in
        7:45am - Pre-race meeting outside the doors of the Fire Hall
        8:00am SHARP - Race start

No frills means no frills.  No finisher medal, no race shirts.   Top 3 Overall Male & Female of the full 50K will receive a POM embroidered beanie.

*Warming center in the community room at 22 Mill Street with coffee and hot cocoa 
*Restrooms available
*Bring your bags inside to keep them warm
*Take a break or enjoy post race: 
~beer zone provided by our awesome sponsors at Southern Tier Brewing Company
~pancakes and sausage made fresh by Coach Mark beginning at 8:30am until the last runner finishes.  No limit.

Dana Boser, LMT, will be on-site to massage your screaming muscles when it's over.  Suggested donation of $2 per minute, payable directly to Dana with cash or Venmo.

Spectators are welcome to join in the fun.  We ask for a donation to cover the cost of the food.
 

This is 100% a fundraiser event.   We are offering long-sleeved t-shirts and beanies available for purchase through 1/14 only.  These will be available for pick-up on race day.  See the Store for more information.

TIMING and RULES

TIMING:

ALL participants begin at the same time at the gun start at 8am.  Early or late starters will not be included in the results.

 No race bibs will be given.   

You must check-in at the table inside the Fire Hall/Community Room.

Once you complete your race, you will report back to the same table.

Your finish time is taken as a gun time.  All bathroom breaks, walking time, naps, beer stops, pancake eating, etc will be included in your time. 

RULES:

Race is held Snow, Blizzard, Rain or Shine.  

Only registered participants are allowed on the course, please.  

You can take as many breaks as you’d like.  Your finish time will include them all.

YOU MUST STAY ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY AT ALL TIMES.  

DO NOT INTERFERE WITH TRAFFIC AND STAY OUT OF THE ROADWAY PLEASE!

These rules are for your safety and that of our community. Anyone not following these rules will be asked to leave.

If you have fun at this one you will most definitely want to put the Frickin’ Hot 50K on your calendar for August 3rd  Same idea, same course.  Only differences are that we start and finish at the Cassadaga Beach so that you can jump in the lake and cool off, and hot dogs will be grilled instead of pancakes.
