Event Description

Headed into our 14th in-person running, the Seneca7 is an opportunity to spend a day with 6 of your favorite sweaty smelly funny and somewhat athletically inclined friends in a 77.7’ish mile circumnavigation of Seneca Lake.

Join us for a race inspired by good fortune and a deep body of blue. The Seneca7 will introduce you to the wonders of Seneca Lake: rushing inlets, crashing waterfalls, banks bathed in golden sunlight. All you (and your team) have to do is run around it.

Event registration opens each October and has been consistently capping out in about 5 minutes. So, set those alarms to be ready to click by 7:00 AM on Friday, October 31st.

Registration Group Details

Early Registration (Captains Only)

Wednesday October 29th @ Midnight to Friday October 31st @ 6:59AM

  • $777 plus CC and RunSignUp fees

  • There are a total of 44 teams which will be permitted to register early. They are Loyalty Teams (have run more than 7 editions), Geneva Local Teams (as of recent), and a handful of the fastest teams from 2025. Unused or registered teams from this pool as of Friday morning will forfeit priority status and the open registration cap raised in number.

  • Just Captains of those Teams will be registering and paying for the full relay at the time of registration.

  • Captains will choose a team name and get a link afterward to share with team members who will register later.

  • Captains will have a separate step during registration to start a team, give it a team name and password, along with choosing gender category.

  • These teams will receive an email between now and the 29th confirming they're on the list.

  • This was a bit abused the past couple of years where teams shared a code and it expanded beyond what it was intended. This year only team captains having email addresses confirmed and on the list will be permitted to register early.

  • Those early teams who fail to register prior to October 31st at 06:59am will lose "preferred" status and will enter into the open pool starting at 07:00.

  • No refunds, Rollovers, or Transfers*. We will try to assist in putting out a call for additional team members if you end up being a couple of runners short.

  • *If you do request to cancel, notify us before March 26th, and there is a waitlist that we're successfully able to draw on, we'll refund you $577.

Open Registration (Captains Only)

Friday October 31st @ 07:00AM

  • $777 plus CC and RunSignUp fees

  • This year's open reg has a starting cap of 250 teams.

  • We hit our registration cap in under 5 minutes the prior couple of years. Be on, logged in to RunSignUp, event up, and ready to go by 6:58 am. And hope your fingers are nimble and your we connection solid.

  • Just captains registering and paying for the full relay at time of registration.

  • Captains will choose a team name and get a link afterward to share with team members who will register later.

  • Captains will have a separate step during registration to start a team, give it a team name and password, along with choosing gender category.

  • Plan in advance to have a rough idea of what your team mile pace will be. This will be a mandatory field and you won't want to waste time with the mental math in the moment. Make is as accurate as you can. Those who project slow and run fast can really gum up the works, over run staging, and may be held. Those who project fast but run slow may get cut-off. Try to be accurate on registration, but you can modify it later when all members are known.

  • A wait-list will automatically kick-in once the cap has been reached. This will be first come first serve if / as registered teams drop from the field. Teams can opt

  • This year's charity reg has a cap of 16 teams.

  • Just captains registering and paying for the full relay at time of registration.

Team Member Registration

Sunday November 2nd @ 07:00 Onward

  • Captains will get a link to the Relay team's page and name in a confirmation email from RunSignUp. They are to share that with team members who can begin registering on November 2nd at 07:00.

  • Team members would ideally be giving the direct team joining link by their captain, but they can search by team name during registration or the Groups/Teams page of the RunSignup Race Website here:

    https://runsignup.com/RaceGroups/192031

  • All Team Member registrations must be in place by March 26th for the team to remain in the mix. There can be changes in the lineup made after that, but 7 names must be in the system and signed off on by that time.

  • Relays that have failed to put together a team of 7 by the 26th may be purged from the lineup as if cancelling and the waitlist drawn upon.

Cancellation / Refund Policy

Team or Captain Cancels

We realize things come up. Injuries, can't-miss-kid events, etc... Teams who unfortunately need to bail, if notifying directors ahead of March 1st, will be refunded entry fee less $200. This reflects that by that point we've already sunk roughly that amount into shirts, vests, etc.. which cannot be recouped.

Event Cancels

I think many of us might agree that the world is a bit nutty at the moment. While Red Newt over 15 years has only canceled one scheduled race, this secondary to COVID, we realize it might happen. It could be fires from Quebec putting Air Quality parts above 200, a winter storm bringing 32 degrees and rain, a municipality saying "none shall pass", or a civil war on the heels of a divorce between Travis and Taylor. We'll do our best to bring you the event we've planned but if we need to cancel for the safety of entrants and/or volunteers, or per a permitting issue we'll either work to refund you what we're able or roll entries over into the following year.
