Description

A two-person ultra relay from the Liberty Bell in Downtown Philadelphia to the Charging Bull in Downtown Manhattan. The two runners, with the help of a bike, will alternate running and biking, uninterrupted, until they arrive in Manhattan.

Finish Line: The Charging Bull, Wall st.

Route is subject to change due to road or bridge closures / constructions / safety concerns 

 

Aid Stations will be provided and be spaced every 5 miles. Exact location of aid station may vary. 

Each station will water, electrolyte drink mix, fruits, First aid kits, and other things.

Aid station will also serve as checkpoints. Checking into the station will be the only way to confirm full completion of course.
Aid stations will be our own vehicles moving along route and stopping every 5 miles. 
Team will have access to drop bags in each station. Drop bags can contain whatever you think you need (layers, personal fuel etc)

Team is encouraged to carry food, extra water, first aid and bike repair tools on bike and refill at each station.
You will also have convenience stores and gas stations where biker can ride ahead and buy supplies. Stores and gas stations can also be used to public restrooms. 

T-shirts will be given out to every participant. 

Legs:

Teams will decide the distance between each leg. In the past, teams have chosen to switch every 5 miles, or every 3 miles, or every half a mile. Choose your own! 
This will be a non-marked course and you will be running on public roads and sidewalks. Mostly suburban and occasionally in freeways in New Jersey and Staten Island. Teams are encouraged to always take safest way. Please do not put yourselves, vehicles and pedestrians at risk. 
 

Finish

To reach finish line, you will need to take the Staten Island Ferry.
At date and time of race, ferry will run once every 30 min.
Once you land in Manhattan, team will run/bike to the Charging Bull.
1st team to touch the Bull, as a pair, wins. 

BIKES:

We will be providing bike transport for all bikes from NYC to Philly on May 3rd. Bike drop off location and time TBD. 

Teams are responsible for any bike repair issues. We will do what we can to help out along the course but cannot guaranteed bike repair for teams.

Equipment Requirements: 

  • 2 extra tubes
  • Bike lights 
  • Headlamps
  • Reflective Vest
  • Extra Batteries

TIME CUT OFFS : 

There will be time cut-offs at specific aid stations. We are still working on them and will update when finalized. 

CREW:

You are allowed to have crew access along the entire way. 

Crew can facilitate with your specific hydration and nutrition. Crew can also facilitate with your necessary bike repairs. 

Athletes can NOT use crew vehicle to transport them from leg exchanges. 

Crew can NOT tag in and replace an athlete during the duration of event. 

In the event that a team cannot finish the race, you will need to notify the race director immediately. Teams will be responsible for getting themselves back home through crew, or other forms of transportation. We will treat each case as they come and we will do what we can, but cannot guarantee an extraction from the course for teams that drop out of the race. 

We will have a running WhatApp group chat for all and pull resources together. 

When registering, 

Both participants in team will need to register and sign the waivers. The first participant will be asked to "Create a new team" and name the team during registration. After first team member registers, 2nd team member will then be able to "Join an existing team" and find team name during their own registration process. 

Where does your money go ?

- To the rental of the vans that will transport all the bikes to Philly. These vans will also serve as our mobile bag check/ aid stations throughout the entire course. 

- To the purchase of aid station foods + water + electrolyte mixes. 

- To the t-shirts and the print jobs

THIS WILL BE A HARD EFFORT AND ULTRA RUNNING EXPERIENCE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. TEAMS WILL BE OUT AGAINST THE ELEMENTS ALL DAY AND POSSIBLY NIGHT OF SATURDAY. TRAIN ACCORDINLY.
