YONKERS, NY – August 6, 2020 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced several cancellations of city-sponsored events in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus.
“As our community continues to manage the spread of COVID-19, Yonkers will cancel the city’s three high traffic sponsored events to limit public interaction among residents, especially ones involving those who are at high risk of contracting the virus,” said Mayor Spano. “The safety and well-being of our residents is my top priority, as we continue to monitor the impact of this pandemic, we will also reassess future programs and events in the City of Yonkers.”
Effective immediately, the following scheduled events will be canceled:
2020 Yonkers Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K-Sunday, October 18, 2020
If you were registered for the Yonkers Marathon, we will be processing refunds soon.

It’s a Marathon Milestone in Yonkers! In its 95th year, the Yonkers Marathon is a Marathoner’s Marathon, rich in tradition and known for its tough hilly course that starts and finishes in downtown Yonkers and travels through the scenic hills of Yonkers then along the beautiful Hudson River. Whether you're interested in just a 1/2 Marathon or completing your first 5K, we've got it all. Yonkers Marathon is a Boston Marathon Qualifier. Runner Packet Pick-up Location and Hours are as follows: Friday, October 16th 4 PM to 8 PM Equalize Fitness, One Odell Plaza, Yonkers, NY; Saturday, October 17th 9 AM to 2 PM, Equalize Fitness, One Odell Plaza, Yonkers, NY; Race-day Packet Pick-up also available on October 18th from 5 AM to 7:30 AM at the Yonkers Riverfront Library, One Larkin Center, Yonkers, NY. Remember that free parking will be available on the event day from 4:30 AM to 3:00 PM at the Buena Vista Parking Structure located at the corner of Main St. and Buena Vista Avenue.
For safety reasons, please remember to check in only clear bags, no backpacks. Since our marathon is on an open course, we strongly discourage the use of headphones and/or noise cancelling units while participating in it. Register now for the second oldest Marathon in the USA!
