Nocterra Quitter's Run

Sun August 11, 2024 Powell, OH 43065 US Directions

Additional Race Information

Event Alcohol Policy

This is pretty simple: "yes," we're starting and finishing at a brewery. And "yes," there's beer when you finish. But there is no beer on the course. If, during the course of your event or before your event, you drink alcohol: your race is over. Alcohol is only part of the after-party, not the running/walking event itself. Thank you for your cooperation. It probably goes without saying, but alcohol is for those who are 21 and over, only.

Spectators are encouraged and will be able to consume alcohol in the Nocterra beer garden throughout the event. Spectator alcohol consumption will also be available within the City of Powell's DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area) limits after 11 AM. See Powell's DORA map for details. Find a good spot on the route within the DORA limits, and encourage (or discourage, it is the Quitter's Run after all...) your friends and family!

Early Packet Pickup

Save time in line on race morning and get your race gear early! Stop by Columbus Running Company's Powell location (141 Greenside St Unit A 43065) on Friday, August 9 (10a-8p) or Saturday, August 10 (10a-6p). It'll be early August and temps are likely to be on the rise as the morning progresses. Be sure to check out the hydration supplies at the store, and chat about race-day strategy with the friendly staff at CRC Powell!

Parking

There is ample parking near the start/finish area. Please click here for a parking map for the event. Can't figure out how to get from the parking area to the race start line? Probably time to quit!

The Quitter's Run is not responsible for incorrectly parked vehicles. If you are one of the lucky few to get a spot early on Depot St, please back your vehicle in when you arrive. If you leave before 1p, you may have runners/walkers on the course. Please use caution.

Aid Stations

There will be two tables at the start/finish line where ultra marathoners, marathoners, and half marathoners are welcome to stash hydration and nutrition during the race. There will be water coolers at this start/finish line station as well. Since this race is a loop course, runners in each race will pass this spot every 3.28 miles.

There will be a second water station near the halfway portion of the course, along Seldom Seen Rd. Water station volunteers will be handing out water in cups at this mid-route station. Participants are not permitted to stash anything (nutrition, etc) at the mid-route station, and if you bring nutrition, you must stash it at the start/finish line location or carry it with you during the race.

Awards

Each separate race (ultra, marathon, etc) will have top finisher awards for the top three male and female finishers.

Safety

The loop is a mixture of Powell streets, bike paths, and sidewalks. We will have arrow signs all throughout the course, but at all "neighborhood entrance" crossings please note that vehicles will have the right of way. There are also two railroad crossings that may affect your run and make you think about quitting! One shortly after the start line (an easy walk back to the finish to quit!), and one near mile 2. Please keep your eyes open at all times and yield to traffic when present. Please keep your eyes open at all times and yield to traffic/trains when present. The instruction of all public safety officials, race staff, and volunteers is final and for your safety.

Please note: your time will not be "paused" while waiting for any vehicular or train traffic. You are welcome to QUIT at any time!

Participant Guidelines

Running with a stroller is absolutely fine. At the race start, please line up at the back of the pack for safety reasons. Running with dogs is prohibited: as is bicycling, inline skating, scooters, hoverboards, etc. Walking and running only in this event.

How To Quit On Race Day

  • Do NOT enter the finish chute or event get close to the actual finish line. Coming within 15 feet of the finish line could result in you being listed as a finisher incorrectly, potentially affecting award placements.
  • Just inside the gate to the Nocterra outdoor beer garden, we'll have our "I Quit Official". If you determine that running your prescribed distance isn't for you, please find the "I Quit Official" by the CRC flag and they can help you quit appropriately, get you your "I Quit" glass and your free beer ticket.

Please note that there will NOT be a "Quitter's Shuttle" like there was in 2021. For safety precautions, there WILL be a vehicle at the on-course aid station near mile 2 for anyone who is injured or ill. If you're just lazy... suck it up, buttercup. If you are participating in the 1/8 Marathon and your plan is to quit, we suggest doing so very early in the event so that you do not have to complete the entire 3.28-mile loop. Again, all quitters be sure to remain clear of the finish line for the remainder of the day so your race number does not trigger a false finish.
