BEFORE THE RACE
The Memorial Day Mayhem is a 5k Obstacle Course Event. You will be running against the clock and the racers in other heats.
Beginning at 9:00am we send off our first of four Elite waves. Beginning at 10:00am we will be sending off our first Open Heat wave.

THE RACE
We have more than 30 obstacles set up over 5k.  Please be courteous and announce when passing, and please allow the other runners to pass.
The course map is attached. Please review it ahead of time to avoid confusion and to “game-plan” your strategy.

ALL OBSTACLES ARE MANDATORY (ELITE HEAT ONLY).
All of our Elite athletes will be given a wrist band before the race.  In order to qualify for the awards, you must have that band on your wrist at the finish line. To keep your wrist band, you must complete EVERY obstacle. You may try as many times as you like and there are no penalties.  We will not have volunteers at ALL obstacles so the honor system will be employed on those obstacles. Bands over Burpees.

Our Open Wave athletes are asked to attempt every obstacle. But they are not mandatory completion. We want you to experience to course your way and try what you want to try.  You will be timed.

A few notes on obstacles:
If you see a cowbell, hit it with hands only – NO KICKING THE BELL! The bell must be rung for the obstacle to be considered complete.
Obstacle #4 and #30 (8ft slanted wall) – Please be courteous of the other runners if there is more than one on at a time.
Obstacle #6 (Tire Flip) – There are two men’s tires and two women’s tires. We ask for 4 flips. Typically two flips in one direction and two back to the start.
Obstacle #13 & #15 (Water Crossing)
Obstacle #18 (Tyrolean Traverse) – Our own spin on the standard obstacle. Please use the invisible ladder to reach the rope. Ring the bell at the end.
Obstacle #19 (Undercarraige) – This obstacle must be completed traversing UNDER the obstacle.  THe support beams are not allowed to be touched and a foot or hand touching the ground is a failure and must be retried.
Obstacle #22 (Log Carry) – Grab a log and run around the INSIDE of the softball fence and return around the OUTSIDE. Drop the log in the same place you picked it up.
Obstacle #23 - (Tire Drag) You must pull the full tire, using the rope, past the painted line and then return the tire by draggin it without the rope back to the starting point and past the second painted line.

Obstacle #24 (Rope Climb) – Ring the bell at 15ft
Obstacle #24-25 (Run the Ridge, Wall Traverse) – This is a combined obstacle. If you touch the ground at all once engaging the obstacle, you must return to the beginning.
