Race For Hope was founded in 2004 when Carleen Taylor made a promise to her friend Peggy that she would help her raise awareness that colorectal cancer occurs in those under 50 years old. Peggy was diagnosed when she was 42 years old. Peggy passed away at 45 years old three weeks before the first race.
Tragically, after 12 years of warning others about this cancer in the under-50 population, Carleen's 22-year-old son Connor was diagnosed in February 2016. He passed away at the age of 23 in September 2016. He was misdiagnosed for months due to his age.
The race continues for Peggy and Connor.
The race continues for Henry, the 26-year-old son of committee member Katie. Henry was diagnosed at age 17 and passed away in May 2021.
The race continues for committee member Kristy Shannon, who passed away in June 2022.
The race continues for ALL whose lives have been turned upside down by this disease.
Please join us as we remember, take action, and bring hope.
