Join us for the 4th annual Run for Blue Blazes - Buckeye Trail Run. Again this year there will be four options for a distance right for you: marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K, all on the Buckeye Trail in the Wayne National Forest. The 2018 course is new, designed as an out and back course to include a new section of the Buckeye Trail (BT). Most of the course follows the BT "Blue Blazes" on single track trail, with some challenging and hilly conditions. The half marathon of over a 1,000 feet of elevation gain and the full marathon has just over 2050 feet of elevation change. The start and finish of this event is in downtown Shawnee, Ohio, near the Buckeye Trail Association office, 127B W. Main Street.
New this year, for the 10K distance only, there will be a TEAM CHALLENGE option. Register as a team (4-person) female/male, and race against other Teams. The TEAM CHALLENGE members will be scored for individual results and Team honors. When registering as a team, you must first create a TEAM, and all team members must register using that TEAM name. A code can be created to allow only your team members to signup on your team. Reduced pricing is offered for the team signup. Ok running clubs, corporations, local buisnesses... who has the fastest team?
There will be wave starts with the Marathon starting at 8:30AM, followed by the Half Marathon and then the 10K & 5K races. All distances will be chip timed, with timing points on the half and full marathon course (at the half and full turnaround points).
After the race participants can enjoy food prepared by the BTA Chuckwagon cooks. This is the same chuckwagon used by the BTA Trail Maintenance volunteers who work year-round building and maintaining the Buckeye Trail (over 1,440 miles) in the state of Ohio.
Awards will be given to the top overall male and female finishers and age group top finishers. Age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over.
