Area Cares 5K Run/Walk

The 4th Annual Area Cares Race with the Bears 5K walk/run will be held rain or shine on Saturday May 18th, 2019 at Tawawa Park in Sidney, Ohio. The park is located at 12 Tawawa Drive on the east side of Sidney. The course is generally flat with some gently rolling hills on paved surfaces.  

This is the first race of the Shelby County 5k Tour!

The event will begin at 8:15 AM and the course closes at 9:45 AM. Awards will be given to the top finishers overall in the male and female age categories.  Day of race packet pick up will be at the park beginning from 7:00am until 8:00am

The course is a 3.1 mile loop with an out and back section and finishes at the park pavilion. Timing is provided by Can’t Stop Running in Piqua, Ohio. Strollers are welcome as this is a family event. No registration is needed for children in a stroller.

In lieu of shirts this year, $10 of your registration will go towards a bear purchase in your name

AREA CARES MISSION STATEMENT: Area Cares was created in 2015 to increase the community involvement of Area Energy & Electric, Inc and its employees in the areas where we work and live. The first project was in December of 2015 where Area Cares bears were delivered to Wilson Health for distribution to the pediatric patients at the hospital during the Christmas holiday. Funds raised from this run will be used to expand programs like this and increase the well-being of the community.

2015: Area Cares was created

           Area Cares bears were delivered to Wilson Health for the Christmas holiday.

2016: The program expanded to include Joint Township District Memorial Hospital

2017: Added the Ronald McDonald House of Dayton.

2018: Also included the Oncology wing of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital
