Join hundreds of other individuals like you beginning Monday, July 25th, 2022, for a 16-week training program in the Toledo area — geared to whip you into shape for regional marathon events like Columbus, Detroit, Indianapolis, and culminating at the annual Churchill's Half Marathon on Saturday, November 12th.

Dave's Running Shop also offers a remote training program for those who may have a hectic schedule and need to run at different times or live too far away to make it to in-person training. No matter the reason, Dave's Remote Training offers the same full program (online) with everything that the in-person program offers except for the official group workouts.


If you're looking to complete your first half-marathon, Dave's Running Shop will get you to the finish line with a detailed, 16-week training plan geared toward the November Churchill's Half Marathon. This training plan will gradually build your mileage and assist you in getting used to the longer training runs incrementally, so you are ready to tackle the half marathon distance by race day.


You’ve got some experience with running the half marathon or shorter distances. Maybe you've completed the half before and are just looking to get to the next level. Let us build up your mileage safely and get you to the full 26.2 miles feeling fit.


You have conquered both the full and half marathon distances but want more than just finishing. You want to whittle away that time to a new PR, or even better....a Boston Qualifying time! With our coach-led training group system, combined with a detailed marathon program, Dave's Running Shop will have you smiling at the end of your next fall marathon.


For the runner who prefers to train on their own, or their schedule does not permit the time to meet on official training days. Dave's Running Shop offers a full, online training platform that is monitored by Dave's Training Director and provides you with the same quality coaching that the in-person program receives. You also receive all the perks of the traditional training program, too.

*Pace groups are subject to change based on group sizes. The top pace group may change based on the participants in the group. The 12:00 minute pace will be the lowest pace standard before the Low Mileage/Open Pace group.



6:30 PM - Walt Churchill Track, Perrysburg (will change to Fallen Timbers when daylight decreases)

The Thursday track workouts will consist of three varying “speed” sessions that will begin with Threshold pace workouts then move into Interval sessions and finish with Repetition training.

  • Threshold training allows your body to elevate its lactate and improve upon cardio strength that will help you sustain a hard pace longer for the workload of your race, much like a fartlek session but a bit quicker.
  • The purpose of Interval training is to raise your body’s ability to consume and utilize oxygen or VO2 max. The intervals will be quicker than Threshold pace to get you close to 100% max VO2.
  • Lastly, we will finish off the program with Repetition pace workouts that will have you running quicker than your goal pace for brief distances, and the recovery between each bout will be plenty. The purpose behind the Repetition workout is to sharpen your “sprinting” abilities and those fast-twitch muscle fibers that may have been dormant for quite some time over the winter months.

7:30 AM (changing to 8:00 AM based on sunrise)

The most important part of any distance training program is the "long run." Every Saturday @ 7:30 AM (8:00 as sunrise becomes later), we will meet at a local venues and other runner-friendly locations to complete the long mileage required for race day.


The hoodie will be determined by availability at the time of order.
