Course

This course follows the Tenkiller Overlook Trail loop counter-clockwise. This is a technical dirt trail with some steep ups and downs, boulders, rocks, and fallen trees. The 3.2 mile loop has 300’ of elevation.

1 Loop - 5k

2 Loops - 10k

4 Loops - Half Marathon

For those doing 10k or Half Marathon, you will go through the timing mats after each loop.

Trekking poles are allowed.  No water crossings are anticipated on this route. There will be an aid station with calories and hydration at the start/finish area, and a hydration station 1.25 miles from the start. The course will be marked with yellow ribbons, but it is your responsibility to know the route. It is highly recommended that you use an app that sends live tracking data back to race staff and your emergency contact person. Watch Race Director Isaac Barnoskie’s video on how to use the Strava beacon feature to do this:  https://www.facebook.com/share/r/DkPiEYnBp1VuLmBk/?

Add On Your Swag

We're working to reduce waste. A lot of us who race a lot throw away shirts. We have more than we need. But we know you may still be growing your shirt collection. This race does not automatically come with a shirt. Thus, the lower up front registration fee.  If you would like a shirt, you will need to order one as an "Add-On" in the registration process. This add on will cost $30 for a shirt, $20 for a hat. You’re welcome to order additional swag if you would like extra for family, friends, or crew. If you’re not able to attend the event, but would still like to show your support, shirts are also available in the Store tab. There is an option for $10 shipping on store purchases.  Shirt orders will be collected through Monday 11/4/2024. Want your shirt earlier than race day? Talk your family and friends into signing up early so the event sells out. The sooner it sells out, the sooner we order shirts. Shoutout to Travis at M&S Screenprinting for putting together the design for us. If you need shirts or hats, then give Dea, Emma, Tara, and the team a holler.

Course Markings

Course will be flagged with yellow ribbons. Course loop proceeds counter-clockwise. Keep right.

Child Discount

Our children are our future and our present. We're all about providing positive experiences at an early age that lead to lifelong healthy habits. We love seeing families making memories too. Each parent entry comes with one free child (age 15 or under) entry. This does not apply to virtual. Please direct message us if you are interested.

Huge thanks to the Outlaw Trail Series for leading the way on this. When we saw that they do this, we knew it was the right thing to do. Check out their events at https://outlaw100.com

There is a playground if you’re looking for something for the younger kids to do before or after the race, or even during the race for that matter.  We will also have a bounce house for thr younger kids, and bracelet crafts with Sarah Jones. We will a few activities for the younger kids to do as well. If you have older kids, there is a basketball court.

Volunteers

We need volunteers. Outlaw Trail Series has done an excellent job of leading the way and setting the standard for volunteers. We've participated in their events as volunteers, and also as participants. We love how the volunteers increase the quality of the experience. That is why we're taking a leaf out of the Outlaw book, and offering a 25% discount for volunteering a shift of 4-8 hours. This can be applied toward Lake Vian Hilltop Run or Spark In The Dark or Peak to Creek. Must be signed up as a volunteer before the event.  This includes volunteering at Lake Vian Hilltop Run or Spark In The Dark or Peak to Creek as well.  Volunteer discounts do not apply to Outlaw events, as Race Director Isaac Barnoskie does not direct those events.
