ORRC Dual Duel and ORRC Mile

Come participate in the combination of two classic events the ORRC Dual Duel and the ORRC Mile!

Events this year are:

  • The ORRC Mile. Four heats of the mile will be held:
    • Women's and Men's Open and Masters Mile at 6:05pm
    • Pacers Mile (a Predict-Your-Time Mile) at 6:15pm
    • Elite Mile at 6:30 pm. The Elite mile is for participants who expect to run sub 6:30 min/mi pace for men and sub 7:00 min/mi pace for women.This is the 2018 RRCA Oregon 1 Mile championship event.
    • Walker's Mile at 6:40 pm. Top 5 Men, Women, Masters and Open - Ribbons only. All walkers must complete by 7:00. (20 minutes) Unjudged and on the honor system. 
  • Free 400 meters kids run at 6:55pm!
  • 10 Mile 2 Person Track Relay. Each participant completes 1 lap and then passes their baton to their partner for the next lap. The distance will be a true 10 miles. The first lap will be 493.4 meters with the next 19 laps 400 meters.
  • 10 Mile 2 Person Open RaceWalk. The same 2 person team format at the 10 Mile Relay Run. Note the race walk will be judged.
  • 10K Solo Run. Note this is runners only! Also placement is not eligible for the ORRC annual age group awards and this is not part of the ORRC 10K Series.

The race takes place at Catlin Gabel. The lights will be turned on during the track relay allowing a finish under the lights!
Online registration closes Monday, July 30th at 11:59PM.

Online pre registration for the 10K and relay per person is $15 for ORRC Members and $25 for Non ORRC Members. The mile is $5 per heat. Day of race registration for the 10K and relay per person is $20 for ORRC Members and $30 for Non ORRC Members. The day of race pricing for the mile is $5 per heat.

4:30 Registration Begins
6:05 ORRC Women's and Men's Mile Open and Masters (Awards in 5 year age groups)
6:15 ORRC Pacer Mile. Predict your time. (Awards 5 deep based on closest to predicted time)
6:30 ORRC Elite Mile (For men sub 6:00 and women sub 6:30)
6:55 Children’s Run — 400 meters
7:00 Dual Duel Team Relay—All Events
7:00 10k Solo Track Run

Awards and Placement

Placements in these events are NOT eligible for ORRC age group annual awards. This holds true for all races held during this event. It is not a part of the ORRC 10k series. There are NO overall awards for ANY event. There are age group awards:

Solo 10K
ORRC standard age group placement. 3 places deep in the standard 5-year groups from 19 and Under to 70+.

Dual Dual Team Relay
Combined age of both partners in each race. Ribbons go 5 place deep in each division. Running divisions are:
Under 35, 36-50, 51-65, 66-75, 76-85, 86-95, 96-105, 106-119, 120+

Dual Duel Open RaceWalk
Ribbons 5 places deep in the following divisions:
Open Mens, Open Womens, Open Mixed


  • Open and Masters Mile: Ribbons will be awarded 3 places deep per standard 5-year age groups: "19 and Under," then 5-year age groups until "70+."
  • Pacers Mile will be 3 deep overall (regardless of gender and age) based on how close you came to your predicted time.
  • Elite Mile: In addition to the standard ORRC ribbons 3 places deep, within the Elite Mile (only), there will be special RRCA awards to the top male and female open and master (40+), grand master (50+) and super grand master (60+) finishers, who will be declared the RRCA Oregon State Mile Champions in their respective divisions.

Results and Timing

The race will be chip timed by Huber Timing. For the relays, each baton will contain an RFID chip inside it. For the 10K Solo, a chip will be on the race bib. Results will show all splits and available at https://orrc.net and  http://www.hubertiming.com/results/2018DualDuel

We’re proud to announce that our Dual Duel one mile elite event is RRCA’s 2018 Oregon Championship one mile race event.


The goal of the RRCA Championship Event Series is to shine a spotlight on well-run events and to the award top performing, overall winning runner in each of the open, masters (40+), grand masters (50+), and senior grand masters (60+) categories for both men and women.

The RRCA Championship Event Series is the largest grassroots organized running series in the US, annually attracting over 320,000 runners. The series features eight races: 1 mile; 5k; 10K; 10 mile; half marathon; marathon; ultra – >26.2 miles; and cross country.

RRCA awards championship events through a competitive bidding process at the National, Regional, and State level to its over 1,500 member clubs and events.

ORRC has been fortunate to annually host at least five of the Oregon state, and one of the Western Region RRCA Championship Series Events in recent years.
