Description
Updated August 11, 2020: We are sad to announce that we have closed registration for our 4th Annual Tamale Trot and are cancelling this event due to COVID-19 restrictions. We will update this page if a live event becomes a possibility for a future date.
Authentic tamales, tangy salsa, live music, beer, Mexican culture, and lots of enthusiasm paired with the beautiful course along Salem Riverfront Park and Minto-Brown Park. It will be a perfect day!
Friends of Pimpollo is a nonprofit organization based in Salem, Oregon with the mission to provide educational opportunities to children and their families living in the impoverished regions of Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico. For the past 19 years, our organization has been a pillar of hope to communities lacking educational opportunities. With the help of generous donors, we've seen hopeless, illiterate children transformed into confident, joyful college graduates ending the cycle of generational poverty. This work was initiated in Salem and continues to be supported by this community!
Tamale Trot is a family-friendly benefit 5k/10K run/walk that will raise funds to support educational programs in Southern Mexico. Today, Friends of Pimpollo provides a nutritious school lunch to 1000 children each month; room, board, and college scholarships to 17 young adults; adult education to 250; and care for the most vulnerable orphans. Tamale Trot is an exciting, fun event that allows you to make a lasting impact on the lives of children in Southern Mexico!
The race itself is in downtown Salem along the breathtaking Salem Waterfront. The course is well-supported and will take you along the waterfront running path and over the new Minto walking bridge. **Back by popular demand** We will have live music along the course to keep things fun and lively! Last year participants raved about the amazing course. You will love it, too!
As you finish, you will receive a finisher's prizel that will fill your heart and make you smile! Then the post-race party complete with food and live music!
Tamale Trot will be the highlight of your running season!
