Description

Interested in running the oldest half marathon in Oregon?  Come join us for the Eastern Oregon Half Marathon, and race alongside the beautifully scenic John Day River!  You can choose to tackle the full 13.1 miles, or enjoy a shorter race by choosing the 5 or 10k.  Either way, you will be cheered across the finish line by an enthusiastic crowd that gathers to support racers and take in the annual Spray Rodeo and parade.  The scenery, small-town hospitality, and friendly competition are reward enough – but this year’s top men’s and women’s overall half-marathon winners will also receive top-notch belt buckles!  If you are an avid runner, consider this fact:   Our research suggests that the top ten times for this race were set in the 1900’s and none of them have been beat this century!   Could you be the first racer this century to turn in a top ten time?  In addition to enjoying an old-school race in the gorgeous John Day River Valley, you will also be supporting a great cause.  All profits go to the Spray Rodeo Association, 70% goes to the Spray Community Fund 30% goes to the Spray Rodeo operating fund.

The Course:
The Half Marathon begins 1/4 mile northwest of Service Creek on HWY 19 and follows the scenic John Day River Valley, beginning at 8 AM.  10k will begin at 8:30 AM, 6.2 miles west of Spray on HWY 19.  5k will begin at 8:45, 3.1 miles west of Spray on HWY 19.  Half Marathon Walkers will start at 7AM.  All races finish in the town of Spray, OR.  The surface is paved, with a twelve foot rise in elevation between start and finish.  Participants will run with traffic on the right side of the road.

Notes:
There will be portable restrooms at Service Creek, and at the 10k start. Halfway for the half marathoners
Liquids will be available at four places along the course and finish line.
