Special thanks to race director Heidi Laubach and her team of dedicated volunteers who launched the Black Cat 5K 13 years ago to raise money for the animals of the Bucks County SPCA. Heidi and friends have donated their time and talents again this year to create a combined in-person and virtual event as fun and purposeful as in years past. Thank you for joining us to make this year's Black Cat the best yet!

How did the Black Cat 5K get started?
The fundraiser got started when Heidi Laubach found herself downsized due to the economic recession in 2009. She wanted to devote her time to helping animals and was inspired by her black cat named Pumpkin. The event is run by the dedicated staff of BCSPCA along with Laubach and a team of generous volunteers looking to help animals in need. Thus, the Black Cat 5K was born and has been benefiting animals in the BCSPCA’s care for over a decade.
The Bucks County SPCA Mission:
The Bucks County SPCA assists animals in need and prevents suffering through rescue, rehoming, cruelty investigation and prosecution, and community outreach.
With our community’s support we have grown and expanded, now operating two open-admission, no-time-limit shelters in Lahaska and Quakertown. We also provide extensive humane investigation and education programs. The Bucks County SPCA works to keep animals in their homes and out of the shelter system by offering temporary boarding for pets referred by a social service agency during emergencies and donating pet supplies to food pantries. We are an independent locally-supported 501c nonprofit, and not part of a national organization or county government.
