The annual NAMI Lehigh Valley 5K Race & Walk for Mental Illness will occur on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at 5450 Liberto Lane, Bethlehem, PA 18017 (This is not Bicentennial Park in Allentown!). The date for a guaranteed shirt has passed. Shirts are now on a first come, first served basis until they last.
9.14.17 RACE COURSE CHANGE due to construction on Dogwood! The race will be run on the Nor-Bath Rail Trail. This is a very flat, well-maintained cinder rail trail with a trailhead in the park. Still no strollers, bikes, or runners under age 14. See course map below. The 5K race is on flat paved roads open to traffic in a suburban area. NAMI Lehigh Valley apologizes for this inconvenience. If you are uncomfortable running on a cinder trail and wish to withdraw, please send a message to the Race Director. We will refund your registration fee.
Prizes for first place female and male runners and for top runners in each age bracket, female and male: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69,70-79, 80 and above. Winners also receive the area's only EDIBLE medals from Custom Cookies by Elizabeth! Participants receive T-shirts (till they last) and tickets for a basket raffle; Johnny's Bagels, fruit, and coffee before and after the race; and hot dogs (regular and vegetarian options) & chips afterward. Enjoy live music, a playground and grassy area for children, and restrooms. No strollers, bikes, or runners under age 14 for the race, but they are welcome for the Walk. Race day registration is available, but cash or check only on race day. If you wish for your registration fee to benefit the Vivek Ananthan Youth Initiative, please state this in a note to the Race Director using the "Race Contact Info" button.
Walkers have a separate, shorter course for their non-competitive walk on a paved path in the park. Walkers register online as well. Participants receive tickets for a basket raffle. The walk is free; a $5 donation is appreciated but not required to help cover the cost of the T-shirt. The guaranteed shirt date has passed. Shirts now available as long as they last. Registration will be available at the event. Cash or check only.
We're trying something new! Individual participant fundraising is not required, but it is appreciated. Runners, if you agree to raise $50 by September 17, your race registration fee will be waved at checkout! Walkers may become fundraisers also.
Registration fees and donations stay in the Lehigh Valley to improve the quality of life for people affected by mental illness through education, support, and advocacy. Visit www.nami-lv.org for more information about NAMI Lehigh Valley, a grassroots nonprofit mental health organization. Register by September 8 to guarantee a shirt!

The correct Bicentennial Park is in Bethlehem, not Allentown. Follow directions below.
IMPORTANT: There is anticipated construction that will close Dogwood Road. New directions: From Hwy 22, go north on Airport Rd (Hwy. 987) about 3.0 miles to Snowdrift Dr. Turn left onto Snowdrift at the light, then left onto Colony Dr. Go about 5 blocks to the stop sign at Hanover Street. Go right onto Hanover Street. Turn left onto Liberto Lane into the park. We're in the pavilion in the tree grove.
If you enter the park via the west entrance instead via Colony Drive and Park West Lane, stay to the right in parking lot and continue driving to the farthest parking lot. Cross the path and walk to the pavilion surrounded by trees, near the restrooms.
If Dogwood is NOT closed...From Route 22: Take Airport Road (Rt. 987) NORTH for 3.6 miles to Dogwood Road (Bicentennial Park sign on your left). Turn LEFT onto Dogwood Road. Go 0.7 miles to where Dogwood makes a hard left and becomes Hanover Street. Go 0.3 miles on Hanover to Liberto Lane on the RIGHT. This is the park entrance. Race and walk check-ins and registrations are at the pavilion in the tree grove at the top of the hill. The race will start/finish in the parking lot. The walk will be on a paved loop trail in the park. We are in the largest pavilion, near the flagpole. If you enter the park via the West entrance instead, off of Colony Drive and Park West Lane, drive as far as you can and park across from the flagpole.
