Buck Ridge Burn 2020 Canceled due to CoViD19 pandemic.

New Date: April 11th, 2021

Hello friends!

Of course you know BRB2020 was forced to cancel.  I feel strongly that the actions taken by the Governor, while unpopular to some, are truly in the best interest of our People. This tiny little viral critter does not discriminate, does not have a political affiliation, and does not care if you don't have time for it. It has found a beautiful and simple way to carve out its own existence in this world. It has taken advantage of a super-highway transportation system, an incredible wealth of human-to-human contact.  I hope we will all do our part in shutting down this network, slowing down the occurrences of new serious infections, so that our healthcare people on the front lines, including my beloved sister who is an ER nurse in Texas, can successfully treat those in dire need without having to make horrendous ethical decisions about who gets treatment.

Thank you to all who took the time to fill out the survey that was posted asking how you would like me to process your BRB2020 registration. I have processed your requests. Those who did not choose have been defaulted to option 3 below.

The options were are as follows:

  1. DEFERRAL:  You may defer your registration until next year.
  2. PARTIAL REFUND:  If you do not want to defer your registration, I can offer you a 50% refund on your registration fee. This will not include transaction fees paid to RunSignUp.
  3. NO REFUND/NO DEFERRAL:  You may choose to just let this one go. If you do not want a refund, I will allot a portion of your money to one of the four charitable organizations that BRB supports.
  4. HARDSHIP REFUND:  If you have found yourself unexpectedly unemployed and facing serious financial hardship, please choose the "Partial Refund" option below and then email me directly about your situation. I will do my best to work with you and maximize your refund.

With regards to donations, they will shortly be forwarded to the organizations for which they were intended.

Please trust that I gave these options deep, serious consideration. These options were a reflection of my desire to help those who need it, but to also make sure that I don't go into debt and lose my ability to continue race directing. I look forward to this race every year, so much enthusiasm, so many smiling faces, so much cursing of the course.....I love it all and I want to make sure it can continue.

I thank you all  in advance for your understanding. I wish you all the best through this trying time. We are all in this together People.

Hopefully see you all for our Trail Party 2021!

Namaste,

Jen Henry, your RD.

Description

These Pennsylvania Appalachians may be old, but they’ll still burn your butt! Come play in the woods of the Michaux State Forest and test your trail grit on one of two challenging courses.

Of course the trail is the main event, but I know you’ll have an awesome time post-race chillin’ at Race Headquarters trail-folk style, enjoying the huge spread, breakfast for the 5K folk and lunch for the Half Marathoners, while grooving to the soulfilled music of one of our amazing local bands. Relax on the grass and help us cheer on the rest of the brave, hard-working runners!

Bring your friends and family and let's party!

In the mood for a quick trail fix or trying out the trail scene for the first time? The 5K course will leave you feeling satisfied with rolling, muddy double-track, winding single-track, and refreshing April creek crossings.

Looking for a different challenge? Take on the grit-testing Half Marathon! There’s a little bit of everything on this course: creek crossings, mud, roots, rocks, grinding climbs, grassy rolling double-track, and swift, snaking single track. The course is extremely well-marked with a generous 4 hour time limit, but the course record is HOT and hard to beat. Come have a crack at it!

Place
Both races are headquartered at the Furnace Stack Pavilion within Pine Grove Furnace State Park. Follow directions to 1100 Pine Grove Rd., Gardners, PA 17324. There will be signs and folks directing you where to park. The Buck Ridge Burn website has a nice PDF parking map if you need more details or you can download the DNCR park map at http://www.docs.dcnr.pa.gov/cs/groups/public/documents/document/dcnr_005573.pdf
