Description

This modified Triathlon will challenge participants to reach their personal goals and best themselves in a 300 yard swim, 9 mile bike ride through McKeesport onto the Great Allegheny Passage and a 5K run through Renziehausen Park. All skill levels are welcome – whether you are trying to complete your first ever triathlon or to break a world record, this event is for everyone!

We are also offering a team option, in which three athletes can complete the triathlon “relay-style,” with each team member completing one phase of the event.

While aiming for their personal best, registrants will be helping the Kiwanis Club and the Trail Commission meet their organization’s goals. Through this collaboration, the Kiwanis Club and Trail Commission will split any proceeds evenly between the two organizations to benefit those in need.

The Kiwanis Club of McKeesport-White Oak is a local branch of an international service organization that focuses on serving the children of the world. Thus, our club contributes to numerous non-profits and organizations whose efforts center around youth. This includes groups that benefit education, health and well-being, safety, and more. Proceeds from the “Going for the Goal” Sprint Triathlon will help us to reach our goal of improving life for every child, by allowing us to continue to fund these much needed youth-centric programs and services.

The McKeesport Trail Commission aims to build up the community by maintaining and highlighting the portion of the Great Allegheny Passage that runs through the City of McKeesport. This asset to our region brings bike riders from all over the nation, and the McKeesport Trail Commission works diligently to provide a safe, amenable, and beautiful trail to residents and visitors year-round! By participating in our “Going for the Goal” Sprint Triathlon, you will be a part of preserving and growing this crucial resource.
