How do the Moving Forward for NAMI LV: 10th Annual Virtual 5k and Challenges work?
We have three options this year: a 5K Virtual Race, a 10-Day Challenge, and a 21-Day Challenge.
The 5K Virtual Race can be completed where and when you want, indoors or outdoors, between Sept. 1 and Sept. 30, 2020. Upload your time and photos on the Results page.
However, registration remains open for all events until September 30. If you register for the 21-day challenge after September 11, or for the 10-day challenge after September 21, you will need to retroactively upload data for activities that you already completed any time between Sept 1 and Sept. 30.
For the 10-Day and 21-Day Challenges, you pick what activities you want to do to keep Moving Forward for NAMI LV. Enter the time in hours and minutes you spent on the challenge activities each day on the Results page between Sept. 1 - Sept. 30. Your challenge days do not have to be consecutive. You can mix and match any activities you like. Upload photos, too!
Download and print a custom bib and your finisher’s certificate for all 3 events.
What is a virtual race?
A virtual race is similar to a traditional race except the participant completes it entirely on their own. There is not a required location where the event must be completed nor a mandatory day or time except the event dates, September 1 through September 30. Racers upload times to our site. Winners are determined after the event closes.
You asked for teams, so we're giving them to you! Teams are optional.

Post them, too, on our designated FB page https://www.facebook.com/groups/movingforwardfornamilv . It is our space to build community, encourage one another, and celebrate our successes at becoming more active.

NAMI Lehigh Valley is a beacon of hope to individuals and families whose daily lives are affected by serious mental illness. As the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, our organization offers support groups and education classes. We also share our knowledge with high school students, community groups, businesses and patients in behavioral health hospital units in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.
Every program we offer is free, but the effects are priceless. Program leaders are NAMI-trained volunteers with life experiences similar to the persons they are helping. Many participants describe our programs as life-changing.
In 2019 more than 5,000 individuals benefited from our services. More than 1,800 individuals attended our Hospital Wellness Program and 655 high school students participated in NAMI’s Ending the Silence program. Our volunteers instructed 124 people at NAMI’s three signature education courses. In addition, NAMI LV leaders hosted support groups and spoke at businesses, colleges, churches and in other community settings.
