Build-N-Athlete 10K, 5K, & Kids Fun Run

The Build-N-Athlete 10K, 5K & Kids Fun Run is more than just a race—it’s an opportunity to empower young athletes and break down financial barriers to sports. All proceeds from this event will directly support Build-N-Athlete, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing sports equipment to children in need throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Set for June 1, 2025, at the Blakely Borough Complex, this event offers runners the choice between a 5K or the first-ever 10K distance on this section of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail. Whether you’re aiming for a fast 5K or ready to take on a new challenge with the 10K, this race is your chance to make history while making a difference. A Walk option will also be available for those who want to participate at their own pace.

What: 10K & 5K Run, Walk and Free Kids' Fun Run

When: Sunday, June 1st, 2025, at 8:30 AM

Where: Blakely Borough Recreational Complex, 303 Riverside Dr., Peckville, PA 18452

Registration Fees:

$25 for 5K runners
$35 for 10K runners
$20 for walkers
Free for the Kid's Run

T-Shirts: Unisex t-shirts are guaranteed for the first 250 pre-registered participants. Kids can add a t-shirt for $10.

Day of Registration & Packet Pick-Up: 7:00 - 8:15 AM

Awards:
The top overall male and female runners will receive awards for both the 5K and 10K races. Additional awards will be given to the top two male and female finishers in the following age groups for both races:

0-19
20-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60-69
70+

There will also be raffles, prizes, face painting, free refreshments and more!

What is Build-N-Athlete?

Build-N-Athlete is a nonprofit organization committed to ensuring every child has access to sports, regardless of financial circumstances. By eliminating the cost barriers associated with equipment, we strive to give all young athletes the opportunity to play, grow and compete. Through fundraising, community support and donations, we work to provide gear that allows kids to experience the many benefits of sports—from teamwork and discipline to confidence and resilience.

In addition to our 10K, 5K, and Walk, we’re excited to host a FREE Kids Fun Run as part of our #OperationTouchGrass initiative, which encourages kids to step away from screens and experience the joy of movement. The Kids Fun Run will take place after the awards ceremony, so be sure to stick around and cheer on the young athletes!

This event isn’t just about running—it’s about building confidence, fostering community and ensuring that every child has the chance to play.
