OUR MISSION: Lisa's Army is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comfort to courageous individuals currently undergoing cancer treatments. After being diagnosed at age 20, amidst her own battle with ovarian cancer, Lisa Loonstyn-Golden launched a crusade in the name of fighters everywhere. She believed that no one should fight alone, so, with the help of her family and friends, Lisa's Army was formed. It is an organization dedicated to comforting men, women, and children with cancer. The goal of Lisa's Army is to make a difference in the world just like Lisa was able to accomplish in her short time with us. Now, we continue to fight in her name, and invite you to join our army!
In Lisa's memory, Lisa's Army holds the Lisa's Army 5K Run & Walk every October to raise funds for our signature Comfort Care Packages. The race brings together families and friends to enjoy the Fall weather in Philadelphia's beautiful parks. We have a children's arts and crafts tent, fundraising competitions, fantastic music, and a photo booth. This year's race will take place at Memorial Hall/Please Touch Museum on October 13, 2018. The race begins at 8:00 AM. This is a rain or shine event.
Online race registration will close on October 10, 2018. You can register on race day beginning at 7:00 AM.
Race day registration is $35.00 for adults and $25.00 for kids 17 years of age or younger.
Participating in the Lisa's Army 5K Run & Walk is more fun when you share the experience with your coworkers, family, and friends. Team members come together to celebrate, honor, and remember those touched by cancer. Every team has its own story, but we all come together with the same goal - comforting those battling cancer. Your support is greater as a team because of your combined fundraising efforts! This year the top fundraising team wins your personal VIP Tent with breakfast!
Individual fundraising is also available and welcomed.
Each individual (fundraising on a team or as an individual) who raises a minimum of $1000.00 will have their race fee waived. Check back here more additional fundraising incentives.
Be sure to use #LisasArmy5K while training or fundraising prior to race day and at the event! Every so often we will randomly select people using the hashtag and send them training swag!
Please join us for kids' activities and enjoy music from a local DJ. Survivors and their loved ones are encouraged to stop by the Survivor Tent.
A free event for children of walking age to 5 years of age.
The beautiful course starts in front of the Please Touch Museum and winds through Fairmount Park's Horticultural Center, past the Japanese Tea House, and ends in front of the Please Touch Museum. Along the route you will see the beautiful colors of ribbons, representing ALL cancers.
