The LECOM Costume Caper 5K Family Fun Run/Walk is one of the signature attractions at the world-famous and all FREE Pittsburgh Monster Pumpkins Festival, the city's largest Fall spectacular and one of the most outrageous pumpkin events in the country—monsterpumpkins.com
It features the most colossal cucurbits known to man—the incredible Atlantic Giant variety—weighing from 1,000 to over 2,500 pounds! Entering its sixth consecutive year, the festival has become one of the largest of its kind in the nation and includes sights and spectacles of titanic proportions such as:
- Giant pumpkin drops
- Incredible pumpkin sculptures
- Massive hay bale artworks
- "Test your strength" pumpkin pull
- Horse-drawn carriage rides
- Pie-eating contests
- Glass blowing
- Food and craft vendors

Young and old…avid racers or exercise trotters, or just plain scenic strollers…and where all participants are encouraged to disguise themselves in their favorite Halloween-themed getups! Why? Because fantastic giveaways await clever, cute and cool costume wearers: scariest, funniest and most original. Shy about donning a costume? We understand…everyone’s a winner really, so take comfort knowing each participant receives medals and some cool race bling regardless.
All participants receive the unique "Jumbo Jack" pumpkin medal and other cool swag...separate category awards too for those who come in costume and disguise...So Don't Wait!
Race will be timed by Miles of Smiles Timing complete with a disposable chip on the bib number.
