FAQs
Who is Parker Valby?
Parker Valby attended East Lake High School where she was reluctantly talked into doing Cross Country and Track. She became the Florida state champion and the Florida state all-time record holder whilst still a junior. However, she was unable to compete during her senior year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She later committed to The University of Florida to continue her running career which led her to become a six-time NCAA champion and the current NCAA record holder for the indoor 5000m, outdoor 5000m, and outdoor 10000m. Parker recently turned professional and signed a contract with New Balance. “I am excited to join the New Balance family and train in Boston with such an incredible group of runners. Family is very important to me and it was very clear that New Balance was the brand for me and I can’t wait to get started,” says Parker. “Boston already feels like home and I am honored to start my professional career with a brand that wants to support my dreams on and off the track.” Parker joining the New Balance family marks an exciting new chapter for the brand as it continues to inspire the next generation of athletes, give back to the communities in which they are a part and build best-in-class performance running products.
What is the Parker Valby Holiday Mile?
The Parker Valby Holiday Mile was launched in 2023 during Parker's senior year at the University of Florida. A proud native of the area, Parker wanted to create an event that brings the community together in a festive, fun, and family-friendly atmosphere. Each year, Parker selects a charity to support, giving participants the opportunity to give back while celebrating the holiday season. This one-mile race is open to participants of all ages and abilities, allowing everyone to run, jog, walk, or roll. Whether you're looking to get into the holiday spirit or simply challenge yourself, the Parker Valby Holiday Mile offers a wonderful way to stay active, give back, and enjoy the season.
Where are the proceeds of the Parker Valby Holiday Mile going?
The Parker Valby Holiday Mile will donate all proceeds from the 2024 event to Clothes for Kids! This incredible organization provides new and gently used clothing, free of charge, to low-income and crisis-affected school-age children in Pinellas County. In light of the recent hurricanes and their impact on local families, we wanted to support an organization that can directly assist those in need during this challenging time. We encourage participants to make an additional donation (if you are in a position to do so) to help even more children in need. Your generous contribution will ensure that even more kids receive the clothing they need to succeed in school and beyond. Thank you for helping make a difference!
