2020 COVID-19 UPDATES/FAQs

3/16/20:  This race will not be held at the physical location due to government restrictions?  We ABSOLUTELY produce our events with the permission and oversight of the local authorities and are following their guidelines through the pandemic of 2020.

1) This race WILL be scheduled in 2021 on its regular date (2nd Sunday in April.)

2) Registered racers will automatically become a VIRTUAL racers.  If allowed (we don't know what will be allowed in Mid April at this point) we will offer event swag for pick up at our packet pick up host location.  Otherwise, event shirt and medal (if applicable) will be mailed to registered participants on Monday/Tuesday after the event date.  (Again, this is IF using postal services is allowed at that time.)  Since this race was not intended to be a virtual race, the swag isn't scheduled to arrive at our location until a few days prior to the event, so it only possible to send by post AFTER the event day. Each FINISHER receives a pint glass at the end of the race.  Unfortunately, those cannot be mailed, but will be available at our packet pick up host location for the week following the event (again, if allowed by the health department) and you are also welcome to pick up TWO FINISHER pints when completing the SUMMER or FALL Prairie Dog Half/10k/5k events later in the year, as we know many of you are participating in each of the events in the series.

3) If you choose NOT to participate as a virtual runner, you have until the scheduled start time of the event to TRANSFER your registration to another event date.  (See this link on how to do that.)  If you paid with a voucher, contact us by email to reinstate your original voucher value.  info@prairiedoghalf.com

4) If you would prefer to DEFER your registration to next year's event, simply let us know and we'll make it happen for you.

5) Virtual runners may post their run times on our Facebook page so that we can all celebrate your accomplishment.  Virtual runners may also EMAIL digital proof of their run anytime within 7 days following the event date.  info@prairiedoghalf.com We will compile the rankings of your virtual scores and post.  No performance prizes will be awarded, but we will award RANDOM participants with fun prizes.

Like every spring, it is virus season in the Northern Hemisphere.  There are some long-standing practices in place within the 3W Races operation to prevent the spread of disease and in 2020, we've added more procedures for the benefit of all.

Here's how YOU, our athlete, can help all of us remain healthy this season!

1) If you're sick, stay home.  Transfer your registration to another runner or another race.  During virus season this year, fees are waived for race transfers.  Also, the deadline to transfer is the start of the race.  Yep - feeling sick the night before your race?  Go online and transfer to an upcoming event owned by 3W Races.  (This must happen before the start time of the race.)  This applies to those at high risk / immune compromised as well.  Use your best judgement and DON'T attend if it is risky for YOU.

2) Wash your hands / use hand sanitizer.  Every restroom is stocked with sanitizer.  Use it, please!

3) Cough appropriately.  Turn away from others, put your face in your elbow and point toward the ground.

4) Keep your hands to yourself.  Staff/volunteers using gloves will happily hand you a cup or a snack or turn the spigot to refill your personal water bottle.  It is our goal that you don't touch anything with your bare hands that another athlete may also touch.

5) Follow Race Director instructions.  Our race directors may be implementing protocols in real time as we get new information from our medical director and governing authorities.  For example, on race day, elite runners (super speedies!) will be asked to start the race together at the 'gun time' and all other age groupers will be asked to distance themselves during the start and not group up close to each other.  Our events are chip-timed and your race start time begins when YOU cross the start mat.  Please respect their requests and follow instructions accordingly for the benefit of all!

We've always been a community of runners - which means we ALL look out for each other.  Thank you for participating with us.  We are committed to doing our part for safety and health and truly appreciate the manner in which you do the same!
