2021 RACE CANCELLED DUE TO Impact of COVID-19
After careful consideration and thought, the Run 4 Kerri race committee has decided that the Annual Run 4 Kerri road race will not be held this year. This has been a very difficult decision but we feel it is necessary to keep our event as a non-profit and family facilitated event. Our primary sponsors are local businesses who have been hit hard over the past year during the COVID 19 pandemic and we recognize that they need to get back on their feet before being able to solicit donations. The annual scholarships that we provide to South Kingstown High School seniors have been presented to Erin Hurley and Samantha Fish, class of 2021 SKHS. We are already starting to plan a bigger than ever Annual Run 4 Kerri 2022 to honor the 21st anniversary of Kerri’s passing. We hope that you take some time on August 1st of this summer to remember Kerri fondly and spend time with family and friends! We look forward to seeing everyone August 7, 2022!
If you wish to make a donation towards the Run 4 Kerri foundation please visit https://www.run4kerri.com. We appreciate your support!
The Run 4 Kerri is a nonprofit charity organization that was developed to raise funds to sponsor a variety of charitable endeavors. The race was created to preserve the memory of the late Kerri Lynn Bessette who passed away at 19 years old in April 2001. Kerri succumb to complications resulting from bacterial meningitis while a freshman student and athlete at LaSalle University in Philadelphia. Over the past years The Run 4 Kerri has been able to donate yearly to a memorial scholarship for senior female track and field athletes at South Kingstown High School to offset college expenses. In the few years we have also added sponsoring the Narragansett Youth Track Series which allows children 13 and under to participate in track and field events to emphasis and promote self-confidence, sportsmanship, and fun. Lastly, we have established a school library giving program in which we hope to stock the shelves of a particular school yearly with developmental and age appropriate content.
