In consideration for participating in activities associated with The Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park, Ltd, a Maryland nonprofit corporation, together with its directors, officers, administrators, sponsors, volunteers, agents, employees, staff, trainers, members, and other participants (collectively, the “Releasees”), the participant (the “Participant”) and the Participant’s parent and/or legal guardian, if the Participant is under 18 years of age (“Parent/Guardian” and together with the Participant, collectively, the “Releasor”), hereby agree to the terms and conditions of this Waiver and Release (this “Waiver and Release”). 

Waiver and Release: The Releasor hereby releases and forever discharges and holds harmless the Releasees and their successors and assigns from any and all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity, which arise or may hereafter arise from the activities as a participant with the Releasees, including claims arising out of negligence. The Releasor understands and acknowledges that this Waiver and Release discharges the Releasees from any liability or claim that the Releasor may have against the Releasees with respect to bodily injury, personal injury, illness, death, or property damage that may result from the Participant’s involvement in the Releasee’s activities. 
Insurance: The Releasor affirms that the Participant is covered by primary medical insurance and understands that the Releasor is responsible for the Participant’s medical bills if injury occurs. Further, the Releasor understands that the Releasees do not assume any responsibility for or obligation to provide the Releasors with financial or other assistance, including but not limited to medical, health or disability benefits or insurance of any nature in the event of the Participant’s injury, illness, death or damage to his or her property. The Releasor expressly waives any such claim for compensation or liability on the part of the Releasees beyond what may be offered freely by the Releasees in the event of such injury or medical expenses incurred by the Releasor. 
Assumption of Risk: The Releasor understands that the activities provided by the Releasees and in which the Participant is involved may include activities that are inherently dangerous to the Participant. The Releasor hereby expressly assumes the risk of injury or harm from these activities and releases the Releasees from all liability for injury, illness, death, or property damage resulting from these activities. 
Photographic Release: The Releasor grants and conveys to the Releasees all right, title, and interest in any and all photographs, images, video or audio recordings of the Participant or the Participant’s likeness or voice made by the Releasees in connection with the Participant’s involvement in the Releasees’ events, including but not limited to, any royalties, proceeds, or other benefits derived from such photographs or recordings. 
Medical Treatment: The Releasor hereby releases and forever discharges Releasees from any claim whatsoever which arises or may hereafter arise on account of any first-aid treatment or other medical services rendered in connection with an emergency during the Participant’s activity with the Releasees. The Releasor gives its consent for the Releasees to provide, administer, or obtain medical treatment for the Participant. 
Other: The Releasor expressly agrees that this Waiver and Release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of Maryland and that this Waiver and Release shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Maryland. The Releasor agrees that in the event that any clause or provision of this Waiver and Release is deemed invalid, the enforceability of the remaining provisions of this Waiver and Release shall not be affected.
