Each participant or their guardian agrees to the following:

I know that running can be a hazardous activity and that I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained. I assume all risks associated with running, including, but not limited to, falls, weather conditions including high heat and/or humidity, contact with other participants, the effects of the road and traffic on the course, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, I for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release Potomac River Running, Inc., Potomac River Running Charitable and Educational Events Inc., Commonwealth Race Management, Inc., and all event partners, sponsors and volunteers, their representatives and successors from all claims or liability of any kind arising out of my participation in this race even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. Further, I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use any photographs, motion pictures, or other record of this event for any legitimate purpose without compensation to me. For safety reasons, I agree not to officiate with any of the following: Wheelchairs, strollers, baby joggers, skates, pets or headsets. I understand that there are no refunds should severe weather cancel the event. I further understand that this event may change date or location if required by local authorities. I agree that my email address will be added to the Potomac River Running and Commonwealth Race Management email list.

I know that participating in a run either in person or virtually is a potentially hazardous activity and that I should not enter and run unless I am medically able, in proper physical condition, and properly trained. I assume all risks associated with running in this event either in person or at a location of my choosing including, but not limited to injuries from: falls, contact with other individuals, the risk of contracting Covid-19, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, high winds, lightning, and extreme cold, snow and ice, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. I am responsible for my own safety and well-being at all times and under all circumstances before, during, and after the run.

In addition, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases and voluntarily assume the risk that I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 and/or other communicable diseases by participating in this event.

If I have a fever, body aches, dry cough, fatigue, chills, headache, sore throat, loss of appetite, or loss of smell or any other symptoms of Covid-19, I agree that I will not participate.

After fully and carefully considering all the potential risks involved, I hereby assume the same and agree to release and hold harmless the organizers and their employees, officers, agents, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, and contractors from and against all claims and liability resulting from exposure to disease causing organisms such as COVID-19.

I further acknowledge that the organizers reserve the right to refuse or revoke my entry into the event for any reason. 

I am aware that the organizers assume no liability in the event of cancellation or postponement of this event for any reason or of a move to an all virtual event should conditions warrant, and that the entry fees are not refundable. I agree to abide by all rules governing the event. I understand I must follow the directions of police.

Further, I grant permission to all the foregoing to use my name, voice and images of myself in any photographs, motion pictures, results, publications or any other print, videographic or electronic recording of this event for legitimate purposes.

This event follows the standard running industry policy: All entry fees are non-refundable. We reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond our control such as a natural disaster or emergency or as required to protect the safety of participants and staff. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances. We reserve the right to change the details of the event without prior notice. I understand that my entry fee is nonrefundable and bib numbers are non transferable.

By submitting this entry, I acknowledge (or a parent or adult guardian for all children under 18 years) having read and agreed to the above release and waiver including the no refund policy.
