Pheidippides Challenge

Pheidippides is heading back to his fellow Athenians to tell them that they must fight on their own, or wait 6 more days for the Spartans to join forces with them. Surely by now he is tired, especially as he climbs Mt. Parthenium for the second time. It is here that Pheidippides meets the god Pan. Pan tells him to ask the Athenians why they paid no attention to him, in spite of his friendliness towards them, and because of his usefulness to them in the past. After Pheidippides' trek and the battle at Marathon, the Athenians built a shrine to Pan under the Acropolis.
