You’ve started and that’s half the battle! Or at 5 miles, maybe 3% of the battle… but who’s counting? You’re passing the Kasubi Royal Tombs in western Kampala. This is the burial location of the four kings of Buganda. They ruled over the Bugandan people (the largest of the East African traditional kingdoms) for 100 years during the 19th and 20th centuries.  It was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001 for being “one of the most remarkable buildings using purely vegetal materials in the entire region of sub-Saharan Africa.”. Slow down and take a breather, but don’t stop for too long though - still 143 miles to go!
