Circle Meadow is a special place in Giant Forest. Settled in the heart of the forest, Circle Meadow is surrounded by monarch giant sequoias and in the spring the meadow is covered in the most beautiful wildflowers. On a quiet afternoon, you could see everything from an american black bear, to a yellow-bellied marmot, to a western tanager but again those are the things you can see – have you ever thought about what you could hear in Giant Forest? What does the forest sound like?
Well, you’re not the only one who has asked that question! Park scientists wanted to record what the park sounded like through a study of soundscapes. A soundscape is the human perception of the acoustic environment. It's the combination of sounds you hear around you, including sounds made by animals, people, and the earth.
To hear what the park sounds like visit the parks Soundscapes Page.
Keep pushing, you’ve got this!
