Running Wild in Giant Forest

60-miles: Moro Rock
Not unlocked yet!

Milestone for Friends of the Forest

This team hasn’t reached this milestone yet.

Can you believe that you started this journey at the beginning of the month at zero miles and now you’ve traveled 60-miles!? We are so inspired by YOU! Let’s celebrate together, post a picture of your 60-mile mark and remember to tag us . Also, don’t forget to use the hashtag #runningwild.

Welcome to the top of Moro Rock! This granite monolith is just one corner of a large flat triangular shelf present in Giant Forest. As you enter Sequoia National Park, Moro Rock looms overhead, thousands of feet above the highway. This large granite dome is a spectacular geologic feature that can be enjoyed from above or below.

You can reach the top of Moro Rock by walking the 350+ steps to the top! Once you’re at the top you are delighted by views of the Great Central Valley to the west and the Great Western Divide to the east. The Great Western Divide forms the border between Sequoia and Kings Canyon and has some of the tallest peaks in the western side of the park ranging up to 13,000 ft! Sequoia and Kings Canyon don’t only have the largest trees in the world by volume but they also have a diverse and interesting geological history. Read the geologic story of the parks here

You might have only 20-miles left or 140 – either way we are proud of you and are cheering you every step of the way!

Stay strong, you’ve got this!
