Not unlocked yet!

Milestone for Peak Pikas

This team hasn’t reached this milestone yet.

20-miles! (read that again, 20!) You are absolutely crushing it! Take some time to celebrate this moment – you are 20-miles into your challenge, and with every step, you inspire us and everyone around you. Keep that inspiration going by posting some pictures of your success! Don’t forget to tag us @sequoiaparksconservancy and use the hashtag #runningwild – you just might inspire someone else!

What better way to celebrate 20-miles than resting by one of the most beautiful meadows in Giant Forest – Round Meadow. The Big Trees Trail around Round Meadow provides the best single place in Sequoia National Park to see giant sequoias and learn their story.

Giant sequoia trees are some of the rarest large trees in the world – yet they start out smaller than you can imagine. Would you believe us if we told you that you could hold a giant sequoia in the palm of your hand?

Giant sequoias face incredible odds. Due to climate change, destructive wildfire, and drought – only one and a million giant sequoia seeds will grow and reach full maturity as a monarch sequoia. A monarch sequoia is a giant sequoia tree with a base diameter of over 4 ft (1.2 meters).

In the last two years, 15-20% of the world’s monarch sequoias have been destroyed in destructive wildfires. The National Park Service and organizations like the Sequoia Parks Conservancy are working day and night to protect the remaining monarch sequoias – will you join us?

Remember, we are here for you every step of the way – keep crushing those goals!
