You've reached Salem and Mile 141 of your journey. If you want to take a hike, head north for about 6 miles on Rt 311 to the Appalachian Trail. Here you can hike to McAfee's Knob, the most photographed place on the Appalachian Trail. South of the interstate you'll find the quaint town of Salem, home to Roanoke College and the annual Salem Half Marathon, held the second Saturday of October.
